They had a pep rally every morning on announcements and kept the kids motivated and excited. There was a ton of build up to the actual event...A FUN RUN!
They set up a track with music and the Boosterthon Crew for the kids to run around. Everyone received a t-shirt with a track on the back and the volunteers marked every time they completed a lap. Prior to the run, the kiddos collected pledges per lap or a flat donation. There was a limit to how many laps they could run and collect money for. Ashton sent emails and kept track of her donations on her webpage created by the organization. She loved it and was so excited to participate in the Fun Run! {I love that she was active and having a blast at the same time}
They invited the parents to come out and cheer on their kiddos. Each class came up with a name that went with their teacher's name. Ashton's class was "France's Flapjacks". The room parents made giant signs for the kids to walk out to as they were announced.
Since Landry had hives and it was before I took her to the doctor, she hung out at home with Daddy while I went to cheer on our Superstar 5th Grade Runner. Landry was totally devastated that she couldn't go with me, but I wasn't sure if she was contagious and I didn't want to take a chance.
I left in a hurry so I forgot my big camera and had to settle for the good old i-phone camera.
Ashton ran all the laps possible plus a few more for fun since they didn't count. After the Fun Run was over, they had a "t-shirt signing party" which is way cool to a fifth grader!
We are so proud of her--35 laps is a lot! We also appreciate everyone who contributed to the fundraiser.
