Learning By Doing

One of the things I love about Ashton getting older is that she is loving being able to do more things for herself. She makes her breakfast on the weekends (and loves it). She has started sleeping in longer so by the time she is up and around, we have all eaten already.

On this particular day, she wanted me to show her how to make her OWN pancakes. She has been making the batter for a while, but today she decided she wanted to actually do the pan part too.

She did so awesome! She has always loved to cook and bake and is the first one to jump in when I ask if they want to help me make something.

She was pretty proud of her pancakes. They were turquoise and cooked to perfection. I am pretty sure they were the best pancakes she has ever eaten!

I loved being able to teach her a big girl thing. She is still afraid of turning on the gas stove by herself (fine by me since she isn't allowed to cook unsupervised anyway--and I was too the first time I cooked on one). She got the timing and flipping down perfect. Not a one burned or stuck to the pan. I think she is a natural!
