spring break :: day four

This was the worst day...weather wise of our entire trip. We were bummed at first, but then we quickly realized we needed at least one day of not-so-great weather so we could take advantage of a cool indoor activity without missing a day on the beach.

We woke up to a little tease of sunshine through the clouds, but it quickly hid and was replaced with rain! It made for a pretty picture out our balcony window as we were getting ready for breakfast!

Once the rain began, we knew we were going to head to the US Naval Aviation Museum. We had heard that it was a MUST DO when you are in the area! So after breakfast, we headed to Pensacola for the day.

The girls (and us too) were in awe and totally impressed with the museum. We took our time and looked at everything;  the Mamarazzi was out in full force...

Our littlest Bryce totally cracks me up! I had no idea she "bombed" the picture until I was looking at them later. How in the world she knew to do this is beyond me! Daddy and Ashton were very much into reading all about the actual pieces collected from real naval pilots. Ashton thought it was cool to see a letter and a pay stub. She couldn't believe how much (or actually how little) they were paid back then.

The girls loved the old seats straight out of an old airplane...and especially the seat belts!

My two little chicks actually asked to have their picture taken next to these card board cutouts of pilots.

These Blue Angel planes hanging from the ceiling were the fave of the day!

They look so teeny tiny in the Blue Angel planes...
After we finished walking around the museum, and watched the Magic of Flight I-Max movie (which was awesome and about the Blue Angels) the girls had the chance to play in the play area for a bit.

The museum was fabulous and I highly recommend it to anyone who is in the area!

Across the street from the museum is a light house. We wanted to take the girls to see it, but it was POURING and we weren't sure if they would actually be able to walk inside or not. So we drove by, let them look at it from the car--you know make a connection and get a visual picture in their minds.

And the last stop while in Pensacola was to the famous Joe Patti Seafood Market. We had heard they have delicious FRESH seafood straight from the boat. We picked out some seafood for dinner and headed back to the condo.

After lunch, the girls tasted the "astronaut ice cream" they chose from the museum shop. Ashton thought it wasn't too bad, but Landry wanted no part of the freeze dried ice cream. I am with Landry on this one. It was a cool thing to try, something she can say she's had before.

The rain stopped and it actually ended up being not too bad of a day. While Landry was napping, our BG sat on the balcony and read her book. This is one of my  favorite pictures of Ashton...love it!

The Gees and Wrights headed to the beach while Landry was still sleeping so Daddy and Ashton went down for a bit.

Jocelyn found this ginormous Portuguese Man-of-War on the beach and it was the only one we saw the entire trip.  Daddy snapped a picture so Landry and I could see it.

As soon as Landry woke up from her nap, she and I headed down to the beach to meet up with everyone. She was one pretty excited little chick-a-dee!

This was the first time she got in the water...it was cold, but she didn't care!

She didn't want to get out of the water and was not happy that we made her take a break!

After we hung out on the beach for a bit, we went up to get cleaned up then had dinner before heading to the hang out at the Wright's condo for the evening.

Our dinner was delicious--even though we didn't have a grill! I loved being able to eat fresh seafood pretty much every single night we were there!
