Preschool.

Tuesday was the day our littlest girl began her very first formal school experience. She had her first day of preschool. She was so pumped...she was all kinds of excited that now she gets to go to school just like Ashton.

We began the "official" prep work Monday night (the night before her big day) by reading a couple of books to her. One was a book we got for Ashton just before she started preschool and the second one was one that Grammy and Grampy got  for her to help her with this new transition.  To say she loves these books is a huge understatement!  She loves them so much that when she woke up Tuesday morning she insisted on reading them before she went to school.

So while I was fixing Ashton's hair, Lan-Lan decided to occupy herself by reading her preschool books.

We had to get a picture with Big Sis before she went to school...Landry totally remembered us doing this with Ashton last week on her first day, so of course she had to the same exact thing.

The giant-ness of her backpack totally cracked  me up, as she walked out for her "First Day Photo Shoot"
(Auntie Megan gave her this backpack for her birthday and Landry LOVES it)

Pics with Daddy....I can't tell if Daddy was a little misty eyed or not...it looks like it to me!

Pics with Mommy...I was totally misty eyed with a lump in my throat and trying hard to hold myself together!

As we were driving her to school, she was singing  "I'm going to pwe-school, I'm going to Apple Cweek, I'm going to pwe-school, I'm going to Apple Cweek!" It was so cute to see her so excited!
This is one of my most FAVE shots of her entire first day!
Landry Paige at 2.5 years old...her first picture under the Apple Creek sign! She looks so itty!

She did so great, she said hi to her teacher and found her name tag all by herself and was ready to head  in!
What a big girl...she put  her backpack in her cubby by herself!
We got a picture with Miss Kathi...

She was so excited to sit and play with the play-doh...there were kids around her crying and I kept waiting for her to think that she should be crying too.
There is Elyse...a familiar face in her class!
Okay...so...after we lingered and watched for a few minutes, we headed out but not without one last kiss! We didn't want to be the parents that hung around and made it worse on the kids who were crying and we knew the teachers wanted to get things going.

This is how she was after we walked out...TOTALLY FINE!!! She could have cared less, which was a good thing. I would much rather her not care that we were leaving than for her to cry! We knew she was going to have a great first day of preschool!

The biggest thing I worried about was the whole potty thing. She had only been going potty in places other than our house for a couple of weeks and I wasn't sure if she would feel comfortable enough asking to go. Her teachers were so great...they told me they would ask her and take her several times and that if she did have an accident it was no big deal. So I sent her with 2 complete outfits (shoes and all) in her backpack...just in case.
When I picked her up and she came out wearing the same clothes I was so thrilled. Then her teacher told me she went potty twice, I was even more excited.  I was so impressed with how much info I got out of Landry once she got in the car. She talked my ear off...which in this case I loved!

She and I went on a special date after her first day.  Since it was almost lunch time, we had a lunch date.  She chose Subway as the place to go. We had such a nice lunch chatting about her first day of preschool. Daddy even called to see how her day went which totally thrilled her!

Ashton was a super star big sister and could not wait to hear all about Landry's first day. She asked her all kinds of questions and gave her the biggest hug and said, "Landry I am so proud of you for being such a big girl at school." These two girls just melt my heart!

Mamo and Papo called to chat with her after her first day...this girl loves to talk on the phone!

Today was Landry's first Spirit Day. Her Apple Creek shirt is ginormous on her...it could actually be a dress, so we are going to have to figure out how to make this big ole shirt work for our bitty girl. She was so excited to wear her Apple Creek shirt...

A fun bonus for Landry is that Carly also goes to Apple Creek. However, since the first day was so crazy, we didn't have enough time to get pictures of the Littlest Girls together on the first day so Miss Jodi and I made sure we got it done today.  We are so glad that even though Carly is in Pre-K this year, the girls get to go to school together for at least one year.

The Littlests...How cute are they?!

Carly at 4.5 years old in Pre-K and Landry at 2.5 years old in the 2's class

When Landry came home today, she had her very first piece of artwork. I am not sure who was more excited or proud of this piece of paper. It was a close one between Mommy and Landry. This is actually not "Dogs" it is supposed to be "Dots" (we were quickly corrected by our two year old)! We hung this first piece of work on the fridge!

So Landry had a great first week...we all survived. I still can't believe that Landry is at Apple Creek...going to preschool. She is so ready and she is going to have a great year. We can't wait to see how much she grows and how much she learns this year.

It is crazy to me that I have the oldest and youngest kiddos in our little Apple Creek group. Ashton, Macy, and Grayson started there, then Anna joined, then Carly started and now it is LP's turn.

The first week of preschool for Landry was a total success!
