Dirty Girls

Yesterday, I did something I never thought I would.
I am NOT a runner. I don't like to run and quite frankly when I am doing my run/walks on the treadmill, I literally can't wait until the time ticks down so I can walk again. And....I don't run fast.

Several of the ladies in my neighborhood are runners. Several of them have run marathons and they LOVE to run 5ks. I do not do marathons or 5ks. Give me an ocean or a pool and I am all over it but running....Nah!

Then the Dirty Girl Mud Run was mentioned. I thought that if I was going to do a run, at least a mud run would make it fun. Brandi created a team and it went on from there. I started seeing the pictures from other Dirty Girl Mud Run events in different cities and it looked like so much fun.

The planning began. We decided we HAD to look cute before we got all muddy, so we found socks and had  simple shirts made with the names of people we wanted to honor with our run. These are people in our lives that have had breast cancer.

What we didn't expect was that it would be rainy and FREEZING!!

We all met in the neighborhood and took a picture we before we headed out to the event site.

Here is what the back of our shirts looked like.

Just after we arrived and were parking, we could tell the the other participants totally got into their outfits. There were some pretty creative and witty people...we were not one of those groups. I had to whip out my phone and take a picture of these ladies as they walked by us. There costumes were hilarious and I couldn't believe they were going to run in those outfits. It really was so fun seeing the other groups and their outfits.

All checked in, and CLEAN... ready for the race to start.
We actually RAN the whole thing only stopping for the obstacles. I seriously wasn't planning on running, but I am so proud of myself for running and keeping up with the group!
We were nearing the end and our feet felt like bricks with all the mud caked onto the bottom of our shoes.

We did it!
Several of the husbands came out to take pictures and watch with the kiddos. My poor husband (along with my family) were at Ashton's softball tournament...FREEZING! I hauled it out to the tourney as soon as the race was over so I could watch my girl play.
I am glad I did this and we are thinking we might do it again next year. We are just hoping the weather will be a little warmer next year!
