We were all pretty excited about Christmas this year. We have enjoyed keeping with our old traditions and establishing some new ones since this was our first Christmas in this house.
Mommy got up early yesterday morning to get the turkey ready to put in the oven. Yes, you read that correctly....I was making a turkey. It has been one of my goals to go my entire adult life without making a turkey. It hasn't been very difficult up to this point since we usually go to either Grammy's and Grampy's house or Mamo's and Papo's house, where the turkey is made by them leaving me to only help participate in the sides. However, we decided to have everyone come to us this year because we wanted to have Christmas in our house.
Back to the turkey prep...Grammy had given me step-by-step instructions on how she makes her turkey. She said it needed to be in the oven by about 9:30. I knew we would be preoccupied with opening presents and I didn't want to miss the action so I had to have turkey ready. I set the alarm for 5:30....Daddy came to join me because he knew I wouldn't be able to handle the uncooked turkey (ewwwww). We did team work and the turkey was prepped and ready by about 6:15 or so. He wanted to go back to bed, but this momma was way too excited for the Christmas morning festivities to begin. I have never been very good about keeping secrets especially when they are presents! I am always ready to burst at any second. Daddy wouldn't let me wake the girls up until about 6:45.
So while I waited for time to tick by, I snapped pictures of what Santa had left...
This was one of my favorite new decorations we bought this year. The read glitter and silver accents makes me HAPPY!!
Santa delivered a pink Sony Digital Camera for our Big Girl and purple drums for our Little Girl.
The picture on the stairs before we headed down to see the goodies.
The Big Moment and I have blurry pictures....stink-o! At least it is documented!!
To say the girls were thrilled is a huge understatement. They kept saying that Santa ROCKS!!
The stockings are always fun to go through too.
{Sorry, but I couldn't resist these tiny buns in her Christmas Jammies}
This girl is in LOVE with her new camera. She seriously could not put it down!
I do have to say that the hubs and I make a pretty good team. Thanks to my Momma's directions, the turkey turned out so pretty and yummy. We were so glad to have: Grammy, Grampy, Ninny, Auntie Heather, Jon, Brodie, and Brodie's friend Eli join us for Christmas. We exchanged gifts, the kids all played upstairs with the Wii. The girls LOVE playing with Jon and Brodie and they are such great cousins! Oh and yes...Landry played her drums for everyone. She actually did a pretty good job and I don't think anyone got a headache or was ready to bail out early because of them.
The first Christmas in our new house was a memorable one. We are so thankful part of our family made the two hour drive up to spend this special day with us!
