Haley is one of Ashton's new friends from Pink. They are not in the same class, but for some reason on the playground they bonded and became fast friends. They used to walk to the crosswalk together after school, they had play dates, and they also emailed back and forth on occasion. Ashton adores Haley and we like her a lot too since she is sweet, funny, and very polite.
Anyway, we found out a few weeks ago that Haley's family is moving to Kentucky on Saturday. To say that Ashton was devastated is a huge understatement. She was so bummed that her new BFF at school is moving away. We wanted to make sure the girls had some good quality time together before she left so we tried to plan a sleepover, but between our schedule and Haley's schedule we couldn't squeeze it in. The next best thing was one last play date. So today was the day and the girls had such a good time. They didn't focus on the fact that Haley was leaving, they just hung out and played like normal.
Ashton had given Haley a friends picture frame to go in her new room as a going away present. We took a picture of the girls together to go in that frame and we will mail it to Haley once they get settled in their new house.
Here is the picture we took for the frame. We are so glad that Ashton met Haley and has her as friend, we are thankful for Haley and how she helped make ARB's transition to a new school a smooth one. It was so hard watching them say goodbye. The words Ashton wrote on Haley's card were so sweet and touching and so wise beyond her years. As a mom, this was a hard thing to watch your kiddo go through.
We'll miss Haley...that is for sure!!

Oh no...tears! So sad to see kiddos say goodbye to a friend. I was sad to see this sweet family go too. Hopefully those two can stay in touch!
oh em gee. what a hard life lesson for the girls and for the moms! wowee...that's tough. i had a lump in my throat just reading this! i'm so happy that ash found a friend in haley and hope that they'll keep in touch!
