Thanksgiving 2011

So our Thanksgiving didn't quite go according to how we had it planned. Our break started off with Ashton catching the tummy bug that was going around. She was out of commission til Tuesday. ARB was better and ready to head to Grammy's and Grampy's house on Thursday for our annual Thankgsgiving dinner.

But......Daddy woke up sick early on Thursday morning. When I say sick, I mean in the 13 1/2 years we have been married, I have NEVER EVER seen him so sick. So when the girls woke up Thursday morning, they were devastated that we weren't going to Waco. They were so sad that Daddy was sick and that we couldn't go. Auntie Heather and Brodie came by to pick up what we were supposed to take.

The girls and I took care of Daddy and just stayed in our jammies all day. We watched the Macy's Day Parade and watched movies, and played. It wasn't the Thanksgiving we had planned, but at least we were together.

All day long, the girls were so concerned that I wasn't going to be able to go "Black Friday" shopping with Miss Jodi. {They know how much I LOVE going shopping on Black Friday and I love that they were so worried about me not being able to go}. I love them to pieces and am so thankful to be their momma!

It ended up that Iwasn't able go shopping with Jodi. Many stores were opening at midnight this year, and Jodi and I discussed whether or not I should go. The kids were asleep, Bobby was sleeping and I knew I could go and get back before anyone woke up. I decided not to go because of Murphy's Law. If I stayed home, everything and everyone would be fine....BUT....if went out, Landry would've woken up and started puking or something. I decided it was better to be safe than sorry. So it looks like I will be doing Cyber Monday shopping instead this year!

Since we had been in the house basically all week (since Ashton was sick) we all had a pretty bad case of cabin fever. The girls needed to get out! So we got dressed and decided we needed to go out for lunch and do a little shopping. We went to Tin Star and Justice where the girls helped pick out Peyton's birthday and Christmas presents. It was the perfect little escape and it gave Daddy the chance to sleep in the peace and quiet.

Landry wasn't happy that we were leaving Daddy home by himself and that he wasn't coming with us.

Thanksgiving wasn't our usual this year, but we are glad everyone is healthy and back to normal. We are so thankful for our family and the the many blessings we have. Auntie Heather brought us some leftovers so we at least got to have some of the yummy food from Thanksgiving.

We are hoping next year we can celebrate Thanksgiving without anyone being sick!!
