This year {continuing with the Non-Traditional Holiday Theme of 2010 for us} we had a change in plans for NYE. Typically the Olsons are back "home" for the holidays and they stay with us so we usually have the NYE bash at our house for The Crew. But, since our house was on the market, the Olsons didn't come up so the Deckers decided to have a NYE party at their house. Sadly those plans had to get canceled since Miss Beth's 99 year old grandmother passed away.
So we changed plans once again and went to Miss Gina's new house to ring in the new year. We were able to spend some time with the Scheers, the Leonards and some friends of Miss Gina's who were up visiting from San Antonio that we all hadn't seen in a while.
Miss Gina and Miss RJ had fun decorating with some NYE decorations
The kiddos enjoyed the hats, leis, and noise makers along with some pizza.
In case it hasn't been mentioned before, we LOVE this BOY! He is so funny.
These pictures need a bit of an explanation: GT is too cool for actual jammies these days. He prefers to sleep in boxers and a t-shirt....while that is acceptable on a normal day, it's not so much so on days when the gang is hanging out altogether. And since he doesn't wear jammies Miss Gina hasn't bought any for him in a while seeing as it is a waste (no need to spend the or take up room in dresser drawers). Well, since all the other kids were coming in jammies, GT didn't want to be the only one not wearing any so he busted out this pair....as you can see he has grown a bit since the last time he wore them.
And the poses....well, he was showing off his muscles (I think) and I love these so I had to put them in here.
After LOTS and LOTS of eating, and chatting, and some playing it was time for the kids to watch the ball drop because let's face it, that is all they care about on NYE {they must have asked a gazillion times if it was time for the ball to drop-I think they thought we would forget to tell them}. And since we don't live on the east coast, we have to watch it drop at 11 instead of 12. So the kids were ready and and when it was time they counted down, blew their horns and had some juice and were happy campers. And then we did it again at midnight Dallas time.
After the ball drop in New York, the kids went on their merry way upstairs to play games and watch a movie. While they were upstairs doing their thing, us grown folks did our thing. We played a couple of games of our own. The ladies beat the boys at Guesstures before the boys didn't like that game and wanted us to move onto Apples to Apples.
And yes, we did have our picture taken with the WINNING trophy....the LADIES WON!!!
And yes, the boys were not so happy that they lost to us, and yes Mr. Bill might have made an inappropriate gesture while Miss Gina was reminding them that they were LOSERS in the game of Guesstures.
And then after all that fun, it was time to ring in the new year with the real countdown to midnight. After the celebration, the kids went outside to throw some poppers. Ashton was not fond of the noise and stayed inside--she wanted no part of it. Landry on the other hand was wondering where her poppers were and she had a blast throwing them onto the ground.
We came back inside and took a group shot of the kids just before we headed home...
You'll notice that everyone is in their jammies except for our youngest daughter. She arrived in her jammies but soon after we got there she tee-teeed on the stairs trying to get downstairs to the potty. Yes on Miss Gina's BRAND NEW carpet so we had to bust out her "extra outfit" which wasn't jammies.
We had a good time ringing in 2011 with our peeps.
Happy New Year!
{**thanks again for the pics Miss Jodi--these are all hers even the cool edited one of BL. what would I do without Miss Jodi and her camera and her photog skills?!**}
