Christmas in Alabama....
It was totally magical and perfect.
The girls were awake just before 7 and they know they are under no circumstances allowed to leave their room until they are told they can. {They know that we all have to be in place with both of the cameras ready to go.}
Since our rooms at Mamo and Papo's house were joined by the bathroom, they came to see us first thing. Daddy noticed what was waiting outside so the he told us to open the blinds and this is what we saw...
Christmas Morning snow falling so gently. It was truly magical! We had heard there was a small chance for snow but that it would be more like be a "dusting" that came late in the evening on Christmas Day. For two little girls who were already super excited, this just sent them over the edge! We couldn't have planned it to be any more perfect if we had tried!
While I was getting the camera ready, I sneaked a peak at what Santa had left for the girls. I knew there would be some serious squealing and screaming once the girls came out.
A quick "Christmas Morning Sister" pic of the girls before they went out to see what was waiting for them by the Christmas tree. I knew I would never get one after they left the bedroom.
This is one of my favorite parts of Christmas morning!
Landry had asked Santa for purple drums but didn't seem to mind that they were pink instead. Ashton was over the moon with her camera and digital picture frame!
I seriously love her facial expressions!
Uncle Todd wasn't awake quite yet....but he was a trooper for his nieces.
Landry was so excited to finally have her own "DS". It is actually a Fisher Price iXL and she is just happy to have her own little girl version of a Nintendo DS like her sister.
Ashton got the zebra chair and canopy for her room that she wanted. She couldn't believe that Mamo and Papo got it for her. She can't wait to set it up in her new room!
And Lan-Lan P was in love with her American Girl Bitty Baby Bunny Robe and slippers. She also loves that her baby matches her. The cutest part was when she started hopping like a bunny as soon as we got it on her!
After all the presents were opened the girls (and Uncle Todd) were chomping at the bit to bust outside into the snow. I wasn't expecting snow...the weather told us it would be in the 50s all week so obviously I didn't pack the appropriate attire for playing in the snow. Ashton didn't even have her big heavy coat...she literally would have gone out in her jammies if we would've let her!
I was able to layer them and bundle them up enough that they could at least be out for a little bit. We had to borrow mittens and gloves that were way to big, but they did the job.
The view from Mamo and Papo's back patio....so pretty!
While the girls were getting dressed, Uncle Todd got a head start on the snowman. He decided it needed to be a big ole snowman! The bottom was about as big as Landry.
Ashton was in concentration mode planning out the snowman
Landry isn't much for playing in the snow. She would rather eat it and she only lasts a short while....she is her Momma's daughter because she gets cold fast and when she is done, there is no fun to be had!
Mamo brought out all the finishing touches for the snowman
We snapped this picture of the Snowman Crew and sent it to the tv station.
We spent the rest of the day munching on some yummy food and relaxing. Mamo-the-Great, Aunt Pam and Charlotte came to visit from Tennessee. Landry fell in love with Charlotte and followed her everywhere she went and Charlotte was sweet enough to play along.
Christmas was so much fun and we are truly blessed to have the many blessings we do. We enjoyed spending this time with Daddy's family. The snow was the icing on the cake.
