Boosterthon twenty-ten.

As we are now in Ashton's fourth year of elementary school, we have done many fundraisers, but the one her school did this year was by far the best one.  The school did a Boosterthon Fun Run, the school and the Boosterhon team did an excellent job of pumping the kids up and getting them involved in acquiring their pledges.

Not only did it help raise money for the school, it taught a great lesson in fitness, education, and character. There was a pep rally to kick it off and daily morning updates on the Carroll News Network. She came home with her prizes each day, on top of her class earning rewards like having lunch outside, and even school wide prizes like Pajama Day.

Today was the day for the big FUN RUN! Ashton was so pumped and excited and ready to run! I dropped LP off at school then headed to Ashton's school to help out and cheer her on.  The moms made a line across the track armed with Sharpie markers and marked off laps on the backs of their shirts as they crossed our "line".

The Wakeland Girls Soccer Team came out to support the school by making a tunnel for the kids to run through as they entered the field.

This dude was the Boosterthon Captain. He was the one that made the morning updates and was in charge of pumping the kids up as well as  laying down the rules and expectations for the event.

They walked a practice lap to see how it would all go....

and then....

it was time to RUN!

They had "Hi-5 Laps" where the kids had to see how many Hi-5's they could get in a certain  amount of time, they had some fun music, the moms and dads had songs they were supposed to dance to and it was just plain FUN!  Every kid had a huge smile plastered on their face especially ARB!

Here is our girl in action complete with her Boosterthon Sunglasses!

She loved her shirt especially because it had her lap count on the back.
She almost ran the most laps you could run...she made it 34 laps!! We are so proud of her!

We had time for a few class pictures after the run...
"Antlers UP" since the Rangers are in the World Series for the first time in franchise history!  Mr. McNeal is a HUGE Rangers fan so the class knows how to do all this stuff.

Also supporting the Texas Rangers with "The CLAW"

Mr. McNeal calls this one the "Philosopher Pose" and as you can kinda see, Ashton has the "Sassy Philosopher" covered with her hands on her hips leaning to one side-ya know her usual pose.

This was such a fun event and we are so appreciative of our friends and family who donated....she is a lucky girl to have people on her side willing to help her school. They ended up meeting their goal of raising $25,000 which finally gives them enough to purchase a shade cover for their playground. They have been trying to raise money for this since the school opened when ARB was in Kindergarten.  As a reward for raising so much money, the principal and assistant principal will spend next Friday working from the roof using Skype to check in on the kiddos!

Boosterthon 2010 was a success and I think the new standard fundraiser for the school!
