A Beautiful Fall Day....

Last night Mamo, Papo and Uncle Todd arrived at our house for what seems to be a yearly visit since this is the second year in a row they have been here for Halloween. There is a funny story behind the visit this year. They decided they wanted to come just like last year and they wanted to surprise the girls just like last year.  It was all planned out.  Well one evening the girls and I were on your way home from dance and Ashton (out of the clear blue) says, "Mommy, I wish Mamo and Papo could come for Halloween again this year. It was so fun."

So later that night, Mamo and Papo just happened to call to chat so Ashton asked them if they could come visit for Halloween....when Mamo said, "Did you say please? and Is it okay with your mom and dad?" Ashton looked at us with the most shocked and happy and surprised look on her face...I only wish I had the camera to capture it because it was pretty priceless when they said YES, they would come! The girls had no idea that the plan was already in motion (plane tickets were purchased) but they were super stoked!

It was a good thing we had the Halloween party at My Gym yesterday since it kept these two super excited little girls "occupied" until they got in. They got to stay up late waiting anxiously for our special visitors by watching two Halloween movies for movie night...It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, and Disney's Haunted Mansion.

On to today, we had planned on going to the Arboretum, but that didn't quite happen since we have a little one who needed a nap since she stayed up late last night--so we did some other things instead. We went and showed Mamo, Papo, and Uncle Todd where our new house is going to be, we toured the model home so they could see what it will look like and then we went to Target to get a few groceries for our special Bevo Burger dinner since my Baylor Bears were playing the UT Longhorns in football tonight.

While Landry was napping, Ashton and Mamo cuddled up on Mommy and Daddy's bed and played Nintendo DS together.  It is pretty cool, if you sit close to someone you can play the same game but on your own DS. They were playing Ashton's Super Mario Bros game...Mamo was having a tough time since this was her first go at it and she was determined to figure it out.

After everyone was refreshed from naps {Daddy, Papo, and Uncle Todd might have napped a bit too} the girls wanted to go the park so off we went....Ashton on her scooter and Lan-Lan on her bike.  It was a beautiful and perfect day for the park.

LP did a little sliding...

...there was some swinging...

...some spectating...

...more swinging...

...and even a little racing! Ashton wanted to race Daddy to the flag pole and back and of course Little Bit had to be right there with them.

Ashton raced there, but walked back.

Then Landry wanted to go again...by herself with Daddy this time...

Her bitty little legs ran all the way there and back and was happy to give Mamo a Hi-5!

And this is where Mommy was a nervous wreck....I had visions of the past. See, Ashton has broken both of her arms but at different times. She broke the left arm when she was 3 and the right arm when she was 5 and and this little "trick" had me a little lot paranoid. But I let it be known that I didn't think this was a good idea while everyone assured me it would be fine. Papo told me he would not let her fall...so I went with it.  She was a little nervous about trying it, but decided to go for it since Papo was holding on to her.

She attempted to do a back flip on the bar!!!!
She was ready with lots of concentration, determination, and a lot of caution...

She did it...and she didn't fall...and she was so stinkin' proud of herself! I told her that this little "trick" was under no circumstances to be tried at school or without a grown up spotting her...she happily agreed, the broken arms keep her pretty cautious as if she isn't already.

After some fun at the park, it was time to head home so we could turn on the Baylor Bears' football game and the Rangers' World Series Game. I am not quite sure who had more fun at the park....the girls or the grown ups but fun was had by all that is for sure!
