The girls were pretty excited! Landry is always a chatterbox until we get to the interstate, but Ashton knows the routine...we won't get there until she goes to sleep so she usually falls asleep pretty quickly (once she can tune out her chatting Lil Sis)! Landry, the poor girl knew where we were going but had no clue how long it would actually take us to get there!
I snapped a quick pic of the girls just as we were pulling out of our driveway. Ashton wasn't really asleep, she was just bothered by the flash!
Lan-Lan P....ready with her bink, blankie, and fish!
ARB ready to head out!
We always travel overnight on the way there since the girls sleep and we don't have to stop much and it also keeps us from wasting a day traveling. Well, I might have forgotten that last year on this trip Landry got car sick. I might have forgotten this little tidbit of info since the girl has NEVER ever gotten sick on any of our other trips. At around 2:30am we remembered....and luckily for us Daddy found a travel station that just happen to have Dramamine and some crackers. Luckily, Landry is over two so she was able to to take this magic medicine. This stuff worked like a charm...she didn't get sick again and it knocked her out! After stopping for our traditional breakfast at McDonalds (this is one of the few times we eat there so that is a highlight for Ashton on the trip) a couple hours from Mamo and Papo's house, we arrived! The girls were greeted with lots of hugs and kisses from Mamo and Papo (Uncle Todd is a college boy who sleeps til noonish) and a "To Do" list. Mommy and Daddy were sent to take a nap while the girls hung out with the grandparents. They headed off to run some errands so they could complete their list. There are of course always some goodies waiting for them too!
The girls needed to take a little break to play some DS. Ashton had hers with her on the hammock and Landry played with Mamo's on the patio.
The hammock is one of Ashton's favorite places to chillax
Another tradition that was started one of the first times we came to visit was planting flowers! Ashton loves to plant flowers with Mamo and she takes it very seriously! One of the things on their "To Do" list was to go pick out flowers and plant them! Papo and Landry did an excellent job of supervising the Flower Planting Process!
After everyone had naps, we headed out to the backyard to play for the afternoon and evening.
Mamo and Papo bought this water table last summer and it was a HUGE hit. I think Landry might have loved it a little bit more this summer! It was pretty neat to see how differently she played with it.
She is a goofy little hoot!
She is one HOT MESS!
L-O-V-E them!
By the end of the evening, they were totally soaked from head to toe. They had a total blast!
Day 1 was a success...
