The Pumpkin Patch in a Tent…

We have been trying to make our annual trip out to the pumpkin patch with the Leonards and the Scheers for a looooonng time. We had it scheduled for a couple of weeks ago, but that was also one of the days Ashton was sick which meant we couldn't go. Our super sweet friends decided to wait until Ashton was better to go...just another reason we love those peeps! With six kids and 5 adults, it is a little on the difficult side to find a day when everyone was free. There just aren't enough weekends in October and oh my gosh, how in the world could I forget the record breaking days of RAIN we have had this month.

Well, we finally decided we would head out there after school today....but it was raining and didn't stop! We decided to go with "plan B" which we had to come up with on the fly. We decided to go check out this "tent" that was full of pumpkins here in town. We put on the rain gear and off we went....to the pumpkin tent-not the pumpkin patch.

We ended up getting lucky. The man who runs it was just about to load up his stuff until the weekend when we got there. He was a super nice guy and we weren't the only crazy people out looking for pumpkins either!

I couldn't help getting a picture of the girls in their matching outfits before we left the house.

Ashton hated her boots, but they were the ONLY ones I could find in her size and thanks to Jodi I got one of the last size 2s at Academy. I had looked everywhere with no luck so these just had to do. Even the fact that Macy and Carly had the same ones didn't make it any better. Probably the worst $15 I have ever spent on this child.

The nice Pumpkin Patch Man pulled out this back drop and helped us hold it up so we could get some pics of the kids in front of it. Anna wasn't in the mood for pictures so she stayed behind the camera. I was cracking up at Grayson's sunglasses in the pouring rain...he was in a super silly mood!

And now for the silly face shot....Landry is wondering what in the world these big kids are doing! We have found that if we promise them a silly face shot, then they will pose much better.

The Scheers were super fast in choosing one of their pumpkins...they did it before anyone else!

Ashton found her perfect pumpkin for Daddy to carve

Landry found her own perfect pumpkin and was way more interested in pushing the cart. Little Miss Independent wanted to do it herself!

The pumpkins chosen by the girls waiting for Daddy to pay for them!

This pumpkin tent had bunnies, ducks, chicks, and a dog. The kids were in LOVE! We didn't get to have a hay ride, or get our faces painted or wander through a big ole patch for our pumpkins, but the animals were a neat alternative.

These girls were in love with the shiny and sparkly pumpkins...which is not surprising at all!

"Plan B" turned out to be not so bad after all. The kids all found pumpkins, we got some pictures, the kids were able to play with the animals and Mommy got two candy corn yard decorations: one for each of our girls and I will put their names on them (thanks Mr. Bill for the smart idea).

I think we improvised pretty well considering all the circumstances we had to deal with. We would have taken the kids to the grocery store to get pumpkins if we would've had to. We just couldn't miss the pumpkins and the carving...that would be breaking tradition and we all know how much we LOVE traditions in this house!
