Walk-A-Thon Week....

Ashton participated in a Walk-A-Thon put on by the PTA at her school on Friday. The school really got the kids pumped up to do this by having "Walk-A-Thon Boot Camp" all of last week. It wasn't your typical boot camp. This was to get the kids to show some school pride and to encourage the kids to be the best they can be.

Each day they dressed a different way which represented a different part of the Carroll Creed. Ashton loves these weeks and had a ton of fun. Each day the kids came home with a sticker that had a quote that corresponded with the part of the Creed they focused on for the day.

Monday~Camo Day (Competence)

Tuesday~Team Jersey (Commitment)
Wednesday~Inside Out Day (Creativity)
Thursday~Dress As A Positive Role Model (Compassion and Good Character)
She is dressed as Gabriella from HSM
Friday~School Spirit Day

So Friday was the big Walk-A-Thon. Ashton sent out an email that she typed all by herself to get donations for her big walk. The PTA is trying to raise enough money to get a shade cover for the playground. Each grade walked during their specials time so it wasn't a school wide chaotic mess! It was very organized and the kids did fabulous!

Parents were encouraged to come up and cheer on their kids. Ashton was so excited that Landry and I were going to be there. Daddy had a conference call that he could not miss or he would have been there too. The best part was that Ashton had no idea I had made her a big sign. She was so tickled and was beaming when she saw it.
This girl was movin' around the track (it had been raining all week and it didn't rain today so they were able to do it outside. The grass was too wet so the teachers made a track around the back parking lot which was perfect).
Each class made a huge banner to walk through to begin the walk. I tried to get a picture, but there were a bunch of people in the way of the banner. It was cute...the room moms had traced each kid's foot and it said "Making a Bee Line with Bentley".
Lil Sis was happy to cheer on her Big Sis complete with rattles and noise makers for about 5 whole minutes then she wanted to get out of her stroller and walk with her Sissy. Mean old Mommy wouldn't let her out because I just knew she would get trampled so she cried pretty much the entire time we were there.
Ashton did give Landry a "Hi-5" everytime she passed by us....
Walking with her Buddy and chatting too!
After they finished walking, they lined up by class so the teachers could record their steps. The PTA gave each participant a pedometer....Ashton thinks this pedometer is the greatest thing EVER and hasn't taken it off since! And of course they got to reward themselves with a nice cool popsicle while they waited!
Ashton's Cheering Crew....we had fun and she did so good!
One last check of the pedometer...she walked 3,204 steps!

Ashton...you did such a great job of raising the money, showing your school pride and being the BEST you can be, and walking in the Walk-A-Thon. We are so proud of you and enjoyed watching you and supporting you this week. Keep it up Sister!

We love you...Mommy, Daddy, and Landry
