Last Sunday as we were all eating breakfast together, Ashton decided she wanted to make breakfast for us. She had it all planned out….it would take place on Saturday morning.
So all week long we had a countdown…. “Only ___ more days until I make you breakfast”. She was SO excited.
So Saturday morning rolled around and it took all she had to lay in bed with us and watch her show. She was constantly watching the clock. Finally at 8:00 she jumped up and went to the kitchen. She didn’t want us to come with her. She wanted us to stay in bed until she was done. We asked her if she needed help getting anything…she started to cry because she didn’t want us to know what she was making and if we helped her get bowls, plates, etc. then the surprise would be ruined. I told her she could check the dishwasher since the dishes were clean to see if she could use anything in there…that made her feel better and off she went.
She came in once and asked if we had any peanut butter. Then…when she was all finished, she very excitedly (with the biggest and proudest grin on her face) came in and told us our breakfast was ready.
When we walked out we saw the table set…
Daddy’s place had a bowl FULL of Lucky Charms cereal in the special bowl she painted for him. At my place there was a bagel (toasted) with peanut butter and chocolate chips (I used to eat this all the time on my way to school when I was teaching). She even knew to let the bagel cool down before putting the peanut butter and chocolate chips on so it doesn't make a mess! Even her breakfast was made…a bagel with Grammy’s Pomegranate Jelly and applesauce. All we needed to get was milk for her and Daddy, OJ for momma, vitamins, and Landry’s breakfast.
It was the greatest breakfast a 6 year old has ever made for us! She was so impressed with herself that she decided she needs to make lunch for us. Only lunch involves more than a toaster so she needs an assistant.
We LOVE this girl so much more than words can say. I would love to know where all of her random ideas come from!
