Another Tradition...

We love traditions with our girls in case you haven’t noticed by now. Growing up, we always had family traditions and “fun” things we used to do. So naturally, we wanted our children to have “fun” things they would remember from their childhood. One of the neatest things about being parents is that both the momma and daddy pull things from their childhood for their kiddos to enjoy and also modify or create new traditions.

When I was working, one of the things we started with Ashton was "Friday Night Family Movie Night". We would either go rent one or watch one we already had. She didn’t really (and still doesn’t) watch many movies so this was always a treat for her...not to mention the quality time with mommy and daddy. She always picks out the movie, we all get dressed in our jammies and snuggle under the covers on mommy and daddy’s bed and watch our movie. Ashton is always in the middle, and we always have the light in the bathroom on but the bedroom light is off. We pop our popcorn (and sometimes mix skittles or fruit snacks to make it sweet & salty) with each of us having our own bowl and we can’t forget the drink. Then it’s movie time!

We haven’t been able to do this in a while with being busy with softball on Saturday mornings so on Friday night we FINALLY had movie night! We went through our “Movie Night” routine and watch Sleeping Beauty. Ashton wasn’t sure she wanted to watch it at first….she thought the dragon would make it too scary. This is true for most movies….Ursula is not a fave of hers, so watching The Little Mermaid doesn’t happen much. She did choose the movie and she thought that since Mommy and Daddy were on either side…it would be okay! She ended up really liking the movie….the dragon and Milificent didn’t have a lot of “face time”.

We can’t wait until Landry is old enough to participate in "FamilyMovie Night" with us. Right now she is in bed at 7:00. I also hope that they don’t get tired of having Family Movie Night…it is 2 hours of time that Bobby and I really enjoy!

Mommy and Ashton...in our jammies ready for our movie!

(It was dark and Ashton was trying not blink due to the flash which is why she is wide-eyed)
