I had the trip all planned out, but Landry quickly decided she was going according to her own plan. I had Stroller Fit yesterday morning, we came home, had a quick lunch, packed the car and we were off…
I planned it so we would be on the road during Landry’s naptime and she would sleep for most (if not all) of our 2 hour car ride. NOPE! Instead she screamed from the time I got on the tollway until about Red Oak. It was her “I’m really mad, get me out here and I will just scream (her high-pitched, reeeeallly loud) until you do scream. Poor Ashton was trying to watch her movie on the DVD player and ignored her like a champ.
So the second part of our trip, after she fell asleep, was great. We got there; I took a shower while the girls hung out with Grammy and Grampy. We went to dinner with the “fam”. Most of my family lives in the Waco area so we met Ninny, Aunt Sara, Heather (my sister), Brodie (one of my nephews), Megan (my sister), Ricci (my bro-in-law), and Parker (my other nephew)for dinner at Texas Roadhouse.
This morning for breakfast, Grammy made Ashton’s all time favorite…PANCAKES! She made Ashton her famous mickey mouse pancake with three special bonus pancakes…her initials “ARB”. Grammy is so clever. Ashton was so tickled and of course she ate them with blueberry syrup.
Today we went to the Cameron Park Zoo. This is such a great zoo because it isn’t huge but it has some neat exhibits and all the animals Ashton is interested in. It was VERY hot, humid, muggy, and sticky, but Ashton loved reading all the information about the animals (especially the puzzles at each exhibit). Landry was completely enthralled with the aquarium and all the moving fish. It was fun for us to spend time with Aunt Sara before she goes home to California and Brodie, and Grammy and Grampy. After we finished at the zoo, we met up with Ninny for some lunch!
The trip home was MUCH smoother. We had “Happy Hour” drinks from Sonic and both girls took naps most of the way home! It was such a nice change! Both girls were EXHAUSTED but had SO MUCH FUN! We only wish it could have been a longer visit!
