Ashton's Dance Recital...

Yesterday we had the much anticipated dance recital…Ashton was so excited for this day to come that she announced it to her class on several occasions. She and Macy are in the same dance class which is always a bonus for her especially since they weren’t in school together for the first time this year. She LOVED her sassy pink and black zebra costume and the fact they did their routine to the Hannah Montana Song “Life is What You Make It”. That girl doesn’t know the meaning of stage fright…after all she wants to be on “Dancing With the Stars” one day! I am not sure where the dancing gene came from because Bobby and I are both horrible dancers with no rhythm what-so-ever! Dance and dress up are to favorite things and the recital allows her to do just that!

On Thursday, her class had their dress rehearsal. This was our opportunity to take pictures and video since they don’t allow it on performance day. They run through their routine twice and work out any kinks. So Bobby was in charge of video taping while I was in charge of the camera…apparently we should have switched jobs. I had our "super" lens on, tried it with both the action setting and regular setting but my pictures came out blurry. So I have no actual dancing pictures to share. This also meant we were able to take her costume down and out of her closet…it was torture for her to see the costume everyday and not be able to wear it.

After the performance on Saturday, Ashton and Macy were showered with flowers from us, the Leonards, and Jodi’s parents (they make a beautiful bouquet displayed on our kitchen table). We took lots of pictures and these girls were hamming it up as usual. We also found these super cute picture frames that matched their costumes. So we presented each of them with a frame holding a picture of them in their costumes…they thought it was magical that there was a picture of them already in it!

I asked Ashton what her favorite part of the recital was…I just knew her response would be that she gets to use her costume for dress up. Her is her response:

“Well Mommy…I love the song we did, I love the make-up, and the costume, and being on the stage, I love being at the high school, and I love that I wear the costume for dress up. I just love it all”
