My Mother's Day...

I want to start this post my wishing all the mother’s who visit our blog a happy mother’s day! Being a mother is one of the greatest and most precious jobs a person can have. I have had a great mother role model in my mom…thanks mom I love you!

My mother’s day started at 7 am when Little Miss Landry decided that she couldn’t wait to see her mommy on her first Mother’s Day! She was awake, smiling, talking and her usual happy self. Ashton had come to get in our bed at around 6:15. So when I opened my eyes this morning I had my 3 favorite people lying next to me. Landry’s talking quickly woke everyone up…the first words out Ashton’s mouth with a big smile and soft voice was “Happy Mother’s Day Mommy!” That right there made my entire day!

Ashton and Bobby went to get everything set up while I fed Landry. They came to get me and led me to the kitchen where a pink bag was sitting in my spot at the kitchen table. Ashton sat in my lap while Lan-Lan sat in Daddy’s. Ashton handed me the cards to read first. Cards are and always have been her favorite. She has a large (and very full) envelope filled with every card I think she has ever gotten in her life.

She handed me her card first and said “Mommy, do you want me to read it for you?” So she did. Bobby told me he was floored when they were in Hallmark looking at cards because she was reading them on her own to find the one she wanted…how did that happen?! Then she wanted me to read the one from Landry and last but not least, Daddy’s.

Next we were on to the presents. The pink bag was filled with the necklace and bracelet from Ashton, a gift certificate for a Manicure & Pedicure from both girls, a gift certificate to Nordstrom from Daddy. We went outside to the front porch to look at the garden stone from Landry.

Ashton led us to her room where she had the gifts she made at school. We sat on her bed and she brought them out of hiding one at a time. She sat between us and read them for me…they were too cute!

We went to have lunch…we decided to have a light lunch and we knew everywhere else would be super crowded. Ashton wanted to go to Pei-Wei but I wanted to try this new sandwich place called Dagwood’s (like the cartoon). Ashton wasn’t thrilled at first but then thought it would be fine since it was mother’s day and all.

We went to the mall (I had a gift card from Christmas that I was waiting to use since I was pregnant at the time). Ashton and I got locked in the dressing room but were out within 5 minutes. She kept her cool and didn’t panic. We then went to Whole Foods to get our stuff for dinner. I had chosen to have crab cakes and tilapia….yummy!

We ended our fan-tab-u-lous day with a walk/bike ride and baths for the girls. I had a perfect day and hope all the other mommies did too!
