SPRING BREAK IS HERE!!!
Day 1 :: Friday, March 8th
We had such a great time at the beach last year, that soon after we got back from our trip we booked for this year. Little did we know that Ashton was going to be playing Select Softball and that she would miss two tournaments. Now that we know this bit of info, we will have to make other plans for next year and plan around her tournaments. In fact more than half of her team was in the same boat!
The night before we left, the girls and I painted our toes so that we all matched. They picked out a very spring-y pink color!
Since Daddy was still out of town, I sent him his daily picture of the girls before they headed off to school. They were pumped and ready for the clock to strike...SPRING BREAK TIME!!
After Landry got out of school, we picked up Ashton early and headed out! Packed and ready to roll!
Since Daddy was in Florida for his conference all week, he is flying into Baton Rouge tonight and we will pick him up at the airport. That means it was a Girls Trip for the first leg. Luckily, the Gees were heading out on Friday too so we met up with them and I was able to follow them for part of the way.
As we were traveling through Louisiana, we spotted this signed...which made us chuckle. Landry has her moments of being St. Landry! Since I was driving, Ashton snapped this picture as we drove by.
One of the best parts of our trip to the beach is stopping in Lafayette for dinner at Prejean's. It is delicious cajun food...so yummy! The Gees spend the night in Lafayette after they have dinner. The girls and I were traveling a little further to Baton Rouge, so we could pick up Daddy at the airport.
Today is Kaitlyn's actual birthday so we had her birthday dinner at Prejean's and gave her birthday present to her... so fun to celebrate her birthday on the way to the beach!! {The Wrights weren't able to get away until Saturday so we missed having them with us for dinner}
Ashton with one of her very best friends...Kaitlyn!
Four of the Six kiddos!
Our trip to Baton Rouge was uneventful. The girls were such great travelers in the car. They knew Momma couldn't be distracted since I was by myself...they got along so perfectly and were entertained in the car. It was one of the best road trips we have ever had!
Too bad our mo-jo didn't continue. I had the timing planned out perfectly. Daddy was supposed to get into Baton Rouge around 9ish and we left the restaurant on time to get us to the airport just as Daddy was due to arrive. Unfortunately, as we were leaving Prejean's, I got a call from Daddy that his flight was delayed.
We went ahead and found the airport, got the girls a dessert from Sonic, then found the hotel. The flight was going to be delayed pretty late, so I took the girls to the hotel and put them to bed and Daddy took a cab and joined us when he got in. The girls were sad not t see him before they went to bed, but they were ecstatic to see him when they woke up.
Now that Daddy is with us, we can really get this vacay started!
