Today was a very exciting day! After 3 weeks of wearing her cast on her fractured elbow, today was the day that Landry went to the doctor to get her cast OFF!
She was a little nervous when we told her they were going to x-ray her arm again. She had flashbacks to the last x-ray when we were trying to figure out exactly which part of her arm was broken after the fall off the bed in Perdido Key over Spring Break. That poor girl was in so much pain that night!
She also did not love the NOISE from the cast cutter tool. She was trying to plug her ears with one hand! If only I had captured that picture! She was such a trooper and sat very still while they very carefully cut the cast off. They even cut around where people signed her cast. {She decided only a few days ago that it would be okay for people to sign it!}
After the cast was off, she very cautiously went with the x-ray tech to get new x-rays. She was nervous that it would hurt, but she quickly realized that this time was TOTALLY different! She was such a brave girl! {please pardon the weird i-phone picture}
The x-rays showed that her elbow was healing perfectly....which means NO MORE CAST!!! We are scheduled to come back in two weeks to check her mobility progress. Woo-hoo!!
Her cast looks so teeny tiny, even smaller when it isn't on her arm! They asked her if she wanted to keep her cast, and of course she said "SURE!!!" I agreed only because it wasn't funky, stinky, or gross!
I am pretty sure she learned a HUGE lesson in all of this....no "P-Monkeys" standing on the bed. We have drilled the very important point into her head that beds are for SITTING and SLEEPING and not standing. We are hoping it sinks in!
She was such a trooper through all of this, but I would have much preferred to not have this on her life experience list!
