Roses are Red, Violets are Blue...

Our Valentine's Day started a little early this year. We knew Daddy was going to be in Las Vegas for work and we wanted to make sure we celebrated before he left so we did a little celebrating on Sunday.

Bobby and I  knew what we wanted to get the girls for Valentine's Day this year, especially since this would be the first time we wouldn't all be together. We took the girls to the mall and let them get their gifts. Landry has wanted light up Twinkle Toes shoes for forever. She has wanted them so bad that she sometimes walks around pretending her shoes light up even when they don't! It has always been hilarious to watch her walk around stomping her shoes, then shout "look at my light up shoes" even when they didn't light up. Well, we found a great deal on some Twinkle Toes for her and she was quite delighted!

The minute we walked in the door, she stripped her clothes (per her norm) and put on her brand spankin' new shoes. She was so tickled to have her shoes light up! I am sure she would have worn them to bed if we let her!! Ashton wanted a pair of jeans that cost more than what we would  pay for jeans. So we told her we would give her money to go toward her jeans as her Valentine gift and she could pay for the rest if she really wanted them. She was super excited to get her jeans....and they were on sale so she didn't have to spend as much of her own money as she originally thought. {It was also an excellent lesson for her to learn too.} It was a successful trip to the mall for the girls and they were both happy with their early Valentine's Day gifts. The best part was that Daddy was a part of it.  We had a nice dinner at home to finish off our early V-Day celebration.

The girls made a special little note to put in Daddy's suitcase and they had chosen some of Daddy's favorite little treats to put in there too. So after Daddy was all finished packing I sneaked in the goodies for him to find when he arrived in Vegas.

I was pretty impressed with the note Ashton whipped up...
"Dear Daddy,
Roses are red, Violets are blue, and we love you!!
Daddy, even though you are along ways away on this lovely day, we are thinking about you and loving you in our hearts!  We have hidden some gifts for you to find...from your girls, on Valentine's Day!!  To show our love here in Texas, here are some great big hugs and kisses!!!
We love and miss you! Love your girls. "

They signed their names, drew some pretty hearts and colored them in. Ashton folded up the note and wrote "Don't Open til Tuesday" on the outside! Daddy was pretty excited to find it and I know he was missing his girls so that note made his entire day!!

We had a little more Valentine fun on Monday. After Ashton finished with school, we went and picked up Brodie and brought him back to our house to hang out. We made Valentine Cake Pops that were yummy!

When the girls woke up on Tuesday morning...I made them a special Valentine's Day Breakfast treat. They love cinnamon rolls and they NEVER have them on a school day so that started their day off right!

I took a picture of our two sweeties in their Valentine's Day outfits and texted it to Daddy before they headed off to school!

Then the girls got a few more surprises. I had Ashton run out and check the mail and  she came sprinting back in the house squealing with delight since Daddy had MAILED their Valentine's Day cards to them! They think he is the best thing ever! They simply couldn't believe it!

The surprises didn't stop there...no sir! Just as we were literally walking out the door for Landry's dance class, I heard the doorbell ring. I ran to check it real quick....it was the UPS man who delivered some flowers from Daddy! We were all three so surprised that Daddy sent us flowers!!
That Daddy is so sweet and the girls thought they were a big deal since the box had their name on it and they got flowers!  I think this might the first time the girls have ever had flowers delivered to them!
{please excuse the picture of the flowers...we were about to be late and we had get them all taken care of before we left and I didn't have time to "fix" em up or take care of the broken one}

After dance, we met Miss Becky and Reesey P for dinner at Chili's.
The girls had a total blast and it was so nice hanging out!

Becky and I cracked up and had Ashton take our picture since we were wearing the same exact outfit! All Becky needed was a pink scarf and I needed cute Valentine bracelet!

Once we got home, Ashton showed us her goodies from her party since I wasn't able to make it. Their craft was this cute little i-pod.
I snapped pictures of the girls with their chosen Valentines. I really wanted to make some cute ones this year since I had seen a bajillion ideas on Pinterest, but they were both more excited about choosing them from the store. Oh well...maybe next year one of them will want to make some cuter ones!
{Please pardon my youngest daughter's lack of clothing....she did her usual and stripped once we stepped foot in the door and didn't really see the need for clothes since we were about to head upstairs for bath.}

I love the way Landry wrote her name on her cards this year...but let me tell you...it was a TOTAL beating! She was interested in writing her name on only about four...we even split it over three separate times so it wouldn't be too much at once! WOW....am I glad that part is done!

Landry's bag of goodies from her Friendship Day was super cute! I love that they tried to make a heart with her hand prints....precious!

I had one last little Valentine's Day surprise for my loves...a GLOW BATH! This was seriously super easy to do (thank you Pinterest and Miss Gina) and they TOTALLY loved it. After the bath was over, they put their glow sticks on their dressers as a little night light fun while they slept!

Even though we missed our Daddy/Hubs on Valentine's Day, we made the most of it. It was a good lesson that Valentine's Day is about celebrating the people you love and sometimes you have to be flexible and go with the flow of things.  Bobby and I have never really been big on doing anything major for Valentine's Day...we have gotten way more into it since the girls came along...but we have fun doing the little things to make it special!

I absolutely love my hubs and my two little girls more than they will ever possibly know!
Happy Valentine's Day!!

What a great, jam packed day! Looks like lots of fun! (Eric had the EXACT same iPod treat from school. I wonder if it was from siblings?!). Too funny Becky and you had the same outfits. Great pic of you two!
