The second part of the DDD festivities got under way immediately following the first one. Ashton was so afraid she was going to miss the dance this year since she had been sick with a week long virus. Luckily, she woke up on Saturday morning with NO FEVER....woooo-hooo!
I don't know which of the three of us were more relieved that she didn't have a fever! I kept wondering what we would do if her fever didn't go away. Unfortunately, she still looked like she had been sick for a week, but she still looked beautiful!
Once we got home from picking up Daddy and Landry, we finished getting ARB ready. We had a limited amount of time since her dance was at 6:00 and we wanted to be able to squeeze in our traditional dinner at Cantina Laredo beforehand.
Ashton's hair is always one of the most difficult things to decide on. Since I have been doing this since she was four, I am running out of ideas! I found this waterfall twist on Pinterest and learned how to make it a double on YouTube. We spent some time on Friday practicing...the hardest part was trying to get it bobby pinned so the pins didn't stick out and the twist was in tight enough at the same time! {I still need to work on perfecting that part but she was thrilled with how it turned out-and that is all that matters!}
I love her dress! She told us when we went shopping, she wanted a color and nothing with black in it since she has had a black dress for so many years. I love her!
She looks so BIG to me and I think she is such a beautiful girl inside and out! I do wish she would give me a smile that is a little more authentic...but at least she was taking a picture. She wasn't as into it as Landry was. I kept getting the look...you know the one where she says "really...more pictures. Can't you get what you need in as few pix as possible?!"
This is the SIXTH time these two have attended the DDD...Ashton was four the first time they went!
I would like to bottle this girl up too....I love the young lady she is becoming, but I also miss the little-little girl she used to be!
Daddy and his two most favorite little girls in the whole wide world!!
And this was just before we were heading out the door. She hadn't had a nap, took her dress off when she got home and didn't want to put it back on. We convinced her to put it on so we could take pictures then she was NOT HAPPY when we were leaving after the pictures. She didn't want to go anywhere so she started to have a little meltdown. It turned into a HUGE meltdown when I took her picture!
We had lovely dinner at Cantina Laredo where we ran into the Deckers. It is so funny because it the place they always seem to go each year too!
Ashton and Daddy had a great time at the dance. Ashton saw several friends, and some of her friends from her old school which was neat for her. She felt like a celebrity. They danced, had snacks, danced some more, and Daddy even started a congo line-which Ashton thought was pretty cool!
We love that Ashton still thinks it's cool to go out with her Daddy. The dance goes up to age twelve and we are just hoping that she will still think it is cool to go to a dance with her Dad as she gets older. I know that Bobby has truly loved taking Ashton for the last six years and he thought it was pretty awesome that he was able to take both of his girls this year.

I hope both girls find these days to be memories they will treasure.
