**This is the post full of things that didn't really need their own post. I guess you could say it is sort of like the monthly randoms posts, or the summary of this year's fall visit. I apologize for the redundancy of the info and for the fact that it may seem like some of the other posts are out of order.
We have been extremely lucky for the last three years (I think...maybe only two) to have Mamo and Papo come for a visit in the fall. With how Halloween has fallen lately, they have been able to take a long weekend to visit. We sure know how to pack a ton of stuff into a weekend, let me tell ya. They usually get to see Ashton play Fall Softball, they usually get to have lunch with Ashton at school, go read to Landry's class, and then they get to go trick-or-treating. This year was no different...other than they brought Mamo-the-Great with them!!!
We put a whole lot into this weekend and it was a blast!
...Friday...
Arrival Day! This is the day we headed to the airport to pick up our VIPs! Oh and did I mention the Rangers were playing in the Playoffs!!!
Since Mamo's birthday was on the 14th, we just saved her birthday presents until she was here so we could give them to her in person. The girls were beyond tickled and simply couldn't wait for her to tear open the paper to see what she got!
This little girl could not stand to just sit and wait, and when you are a Mamo, it is always better to have a grandchild help you open your birthday presents, so she didn't mind one bit.
Ever since the girls made their fleece blankets while we were in Alabama for Christmas last year, Mamo has been dying to have one of her own. We saw this Alabama hounds tooth fleece and knew it would be perfect for her blanket. Crimson on one side and hounds tooth on the other = perfection for an Alabama Mamo!
...Saturday...
One of Ashton's and Mamo's favorite things to do together is sing. They will sing any song, but they especially love the patriotic songs (God Bless America is Mamo's fave). When they finished performing, they decided they needed to "pose" for a picture like Lan-Lan. I love it!
Our Saturday was pretty packed! We had softball for Ashton, then it was home to clean up and get ready for a new neighbor picnic at the park before Daddy and I had a special grown up Halloween Party. With Mommy and Daddy out of the house, that meant the girls got to have Movie Night with the grands! This was the first year that Bobby and I have actually dressed up as a couple (sort of). I have to admit that it was HARD to come up with a costume that was appropriate and that we both agreed on. We managed.
...Sunday...
Sunday was Football Frenzy Sunday. We made a grocery store run and had some yummy "football food" and spent the day carving pumpkins, hanging out watching football. Ashton went to a Halloween Party with one of her friends for a couple of hours and Landry was quite happy to have everyone to herself!Mamo-the-Great taught P-Money to crochet....this is such a sweet picture!!
Mamo and Ashton started playing "Words With Friends" which is basically Scrabble for the i-pod touch and the i-phone. Ashton thought it was so cool, but I think what she really loves is the chat feature that comes with playing the game.
Ashton needed her Papo to help her out with her turn.
And Mamo made a peanut butter pie which meant the girls got to lick the beater.
...Monday...
In addition to the other Halloween festivities, we managed to squeeze a few more fun things into the day while the girls were at school!
Landry was super duper excited to have everyone come to her classroom and read. She helped each person choose the book they were going to read--it was a serious deal and she was ALL over it! Papo read The Cranky Bear...
{I don't remember what Landry was saying to Mamo, but I do know it was important!}
This girl is a nut-ball! She apparently thought she needed to "borrow" Mamo's reading glasses!
Mamo-the-Great read Cookie's Week and Mamo read Fancy Nancy: Halloween or Bust.
After we left Landry's school, she and Mommy had a lunch date while Daddy took Mamo, Papo, and Mamo-the-Great to Ashton's new school for a lunch date. Everyone had the best time. The girls loved showing off their schools and it was the perfect way to spend a Monday!
