Meet the Teacher: Ashton

Yesterday was Meet the Teacher for our soon to be 4th grader...the day all summer that Ashton had been waiting for and dreading at the same time.

Ashton's MTT wasn't until 5:30 so while Daddy was working, the girls and I swung by Prodigy to sign our Littlest Dancer up for her first ever real (not a camp) dance class. After we took care of that bit of business, we went by and got a Jamba Juice as our afternoon snack/treat. As we were walking out to the car, Ashton spotted a penny....a lucky penny! We were both pretty excited and we were positive that was a sign of good things to come at her MTT!!

What are the odds of finding a lucky penny on a day when she was FULL of nerves and anticipation?!

The class lists were posted at 3:30...so after finding the lucky penny, we swung by our house to pick up Daddy. We all very eagerly went to see whose class our girl was going to be in. We had looked at the teachers online so she had a face to go with the name when she saw her name on the list.  She was hoping for Mrs. Ashton because she thought it would be really cool to be in her class since they shared the name Ashton!

She was pretty excited to see that there was someone she KNEW in her class! That was VERY exciting for her and a relief for us!

I took this picture of the girls in the wind walking up to the school...this happened to be the ONLY picture I got of the girls together. Wind blown or not, this had to make the cut for documentation purposes!

When we walked down the hall and came to her classroom, and we saw her teacher's name in ZEBRA  letters, we just knew this was another good sign! She was beyond tickled. Oh and the name on the door was not the only zebra and pink in the classroom, so she was one happy camper!!

She felt a little better about school starting, but was really bummed that she wasn't sharing this experience with her Carroll peeps. At least some of the "unknowns" were out of the way, helping to make the first day a little bit easier for her.

She was over the moon with her blinged out spirit shirt! That in itself was another good sign!  We are hoping that once she starts school, she really will think that "Pink Rocks"!!
{Pink is the name of her school...another good sign}
After MTT we met up with our good friends from Carroll to have dinner. We are so glad we did this...it was good for all of us. We enjoyed hearing how MTT went at Carroll and Ashton enjoyed telling the girls about her new school. She is going to really miss going to school with her friends but we are still going to have lots of play dates and family shin-digs.
