On Saturday we had another round of GDS (Game Day Saturday), this time it was for Ashton. One of the things I love about our BryceLeonardScheer Crew is that we make an effort each season to watch the kids do their thing whatever it may be. We love watching soccer games, softball games, gymnastics classes, dance competitions and recitals, and hopefully basketball games. As the kids get older and more involved it gets more and more difficult to plan, but somehow we always manage to get it worked out at least once!
Ashton's favorite peeps braved the hot June Texas weather to come out and support her. We had been moving into the house all day (and that included Bill and Andrew too) before it was game time. Grammy and Grampy were also there to watch her play...they were here helping with the girls so Daddy and I could do the moving thing and they also decided to sit out in the heat to watch some softball action.
Our favorite Cubs player was ready to get her game on...game face and everything. This season she has really gotten serious about the game including the need to wear they eye black! Love her!!!
She usually plays short stop or first base but today she played a little catcher too and I was impressed with how well she did at that position. She is a good all around ball player and is really into the game and how it works!
#7 is a lucky girl to have such an awesome fan club and friends!!
She had a great game...she hit a double and made a double play from short stop. We love watching her even in the heat and we are so proud of the ball player she is developing into!
This was Ashton's last regular season game since she has her dance recital this Saturday and it was pretty exciting that she went out with a WIN!
The Cubs huddle was pumped to have played so well and to win!
It was a hot day for sure and Daddy had to keep that bald head that I love so much protected and what better way than with his glove?!
I almost forgot to include Daddy in this GDS post. He is a part of the team too. He is one of the assistant coaches. And while Ashton plays in a girl pitch league, since this is the first year of it, if the girls are pitched 4 balls, instead of getting a walk to first base, the coach comes in to pitch. Daddy is the lucky guy who gets that job!
During the post game huddle, Coach Eric hands out yellow stickers for hits and white stickers for special plays like doubles, double plays, etc. So Ashton's helmet was loaded up with a few white stickers for this game.
And....she was awarded the GAME BALL!!
These are SIX cute kiddos!
Number 1 Fans for sure!!
Grammy and Grampy were so pumped to see Ashton play well and she was tickled that they stayed to watch her play! She had the best fan club in attendance!
After the game, we went to visit the sno cone lady for our end of the school year tradition. It was such a yummy and refreshing treat and a perfect way to end GDS!
Poor Carly, she had had a fever with no other symptoms on Friday and all she wanted was to sit in Macy's lap and wasn't jazzed that Landry was there for the group picture.
Everyone was happy when it came time to show us their tongues. You'll notice Landry was all about her sno cone and wasn't going to stop eating it for a picture!
Once they finished, these big kids had fun chatting and exploring...
While the LONE little one was much too busy getting every last drop of her sno cone to hang with the big kids!
We had a fantastic day...but it was exhausting at the same time!
And once again many of these awesome pictures are courtesy of Miss Jodi! I have a hard time watching the game and taking pictures at the same time so I was very glad Miss Jodi came and brought her 3rd child with her! Thanks Miss Jodi!
