Mardi Gras Par-tay

Last night we celebrated a special 9th birthday--Mardi Gras Style

This was the girls' first Mardi Gras party/experience and they really didn't know what Mardi Gras was (Landry still doesn't) and now they love (the rated G version) Mardi Gras.

Ashton's friend Kaitlyn had a family birthday celebration for her birthday party this year. She invited 3 of her best buds and parents and siblings got to come too. Miss Christine went all out with Louisiana food, traditional Mardi Gras colored decorations galore, beads, coins, and a King Cake (which the girls thought was the best thing ever).

The invitation stated that bright colors, masks, and hats were highly encouraged. So when the girls and I went out to Kaitlyn's birthday present, we stopped by the party store and hit the Mardi Gras aisle and found us some masks, beads, etc. to wear to the par-tay.

Then I ran by Hobby Lobby and grabbed a few supplies so the girls could decorate their masks. They had a blast putting  feathers, jewels, and sequins on their masks.

Our Little Mardi Gras Girls...

The Moms at the party threw beads down to the kids from upstairs when they yelled "throw us some beads please". They had so much fun catching beads.  They played a game where they tried to throw some doubloons into cups with the corresponding coin on the front.  They took turns playing Just Dance2 on the Wii and just had a good ole time celebrating Miss Kaitlyn! {I walked out of the house  without my camera so I don't have any pictures of the fun}

Miss Christine sent the girls home with a TON of beads and coins. Landry was quite proud of her beads and wanted me to take a picture of her with her goodies.

We had a fabulous time celebrating Kaitlyn's birthday and we were all glad we had the chance to be  included  this year.  I think the girls had very special first Mardi Gras experience and it was definitely a birthday party they haven't done before!
