After our fun day Tuesday at the Baylor softball game, we were excited to spend Wednesday at the zoo with Grampy, Parker, and Auntie Megan. Grammy wanted to come with us, but couldn't get away from work.
Auntie Megan made yummy cinnamon rolls for breakfast and the kiddos got to play for a bit before it was time to get ready. The girls always have fun playing with Parker and his stuff....he has a lot of toys that they don't have at our house because we don't have boys.
The remote controlled car and Canton are always two of the girls' faves! Canton loves chasing his toys and the girls can spend hours throwing his toys for him to fetch.
One of the first stops we made was visiting "Granny's Play Yard" for the kids to play. It was fun for us to watch the kiddos running around playing and having a good ole time!
The girls posed for some pix in these butterflies. By the time I was done getting the girls' pictures, Parker was gone so I didn't get any of him or any of all three of them together!
Landry was less than thrilled for this picture....can you tell?
Landry was in love with this xylophone thingy and Parker and Ashton enjoyed playing some delightful tunes as well!
Ashton and Parker liked this snake tunnel...but Landry would NOT get in it!
Slides are always fun no matter how old you are! They must have gone down a million times.
Once again I tried to get a picture of Grampy will all three of his grandkids but Landry wasn't listening to us as we told her not to climb on the rocks and had just fallen so she wasn't in the mood, and Parker was just being three! So we had another solo picture moment for ARB with Grampy!
Ever since Daddy saw an alligator while he was golfing in Florida a few weeks ago, Landry is quite obsessed with these guys. She was LOVING that there was a "real live one" for her to see!
love these two girls.
Checking out the mountain lion together.
Ashton went on the slide through the otter exhibit....Landry would NOT do it! But the girls had fun walking through the tepee in the Brazos River Exhibit.
The Komodo Dragon....interestingly enough, Parker wouldn't get on this or even get close to it.
The lions had a roaring conversation with each other that Daddy, Grampy, and Ashton got to see. People were sprinting to the exhibit to see what was going on when they heard the roaring begin. It was such a great sound to hear and not one that you usually get to hear. They watched for awhile before Daddy and Grampy decided they needed to leave before the "biology lesson" began. Apparently all that roaring meant business! That was not something we wanted to explain to our eight year old.
This Little Red Riding Hood I mean orangutan was one of our favorite animals of the day. I couldn't believe she had this cape on and she just stood at the window with her arm propped up watching people as they came up to the glass to get a good look at her. It was hilarious and something we had never seen before!
Here's a look at some of the animals we saw on this visit...
Two Bald Eagles....and this giant Yellow Eel
This cool Porcupine/Tiger Fish...and Pelicans
Alligators
Mountain Lions...and Otters
Ocelot...and Giraffes
Sleeping White Rhinos....and Flamingos
A cute little Meerkat....and Tigers
We LOVED how this elephant was standing with its back legs crossed!
Oddly enough, we didn't see any bears. The girls could not believe that in Waco of all places there weren't any bears at the zoo. They have plenty of Baylor Bears, but no actual bears. That was one animal that Landry really wanted to see!
We had such a great time at the zoo! At the end, the girls each got to pick out a key chain as their souvenir and then we met Ninny at George's for a delicious lunch!
Our Spring Break away from the apartment was so much fun and very much needed! We were glad to have Daddy hang out with us since he has been gone so much lately and we only wish we could have seen Ninny and Grammy a bit longer!
