First Snow of 2011

Today was a super fun day for the girls...it was the First Snow of 2011 and our second snow of the winter (we were lucky enough to have snow in Alabama over Christmas) season.

The day began with rain then as Ashton and I went out to try and find her a dress for the Daddy-Daughter Dance it turned into freezing rain and eventually snow.  While Landry was napping the snow began to fall and it was the giant soft fluffy and wet snow flakes. It just kept on snowing and we wondered if it was ever going to stop. By the time LP woke up from her nap, the ground was covered and they were raring to get out in it.

We bundled them up the best we could and they were off. It was absolutely freezing. For some reason the cold doesn't bother Ashton when there is snow involved but Landry is so her Momma's kid, she gets her fill and after a few minutes she is ready to come in.

Ashton thought it would be fun to have a snowball fight with the fence...ya know since the fence doesn't throw them back at you. And she could see exactly where her snowball landed on the fence.

Landry's favorite thing to do in the snow is eat it. She could seriously eat her body weight in snow.

There was so much snow that our little "grace" had such a hard time walking in the deep snow. She must have fallen a gazillion times.  Poor girl...I felt so bad for her.

I am often referred to as the "Fun Ruiner" in our house...someone has to be in some situations {you know when it is freezing cold or kids are running wild in the house with glass tables around, etc} and I lived up to that name today for sure in the girls' eyes.  The girls were SO NOT ready to come  inside...but after 10 minutes this momma was ready and it was FREEZING so I knew they needed to be ready too. They were both crying and if only I had taken a picture it would have been awesome....I was too busy getting wet clothes and boots off of them before they brought the wet mess into the house so I didn't get one. Although, the look on LP's face in this last picture gives you a teeny hint of how thrilled she was.

We live in Texas for a reason....we are not cold weather with lots of snow people. We are good to get one or two snows a year and we like for it to be gone the next day.  The snow always creates a ton of excitement for the girls and it never gets old for them. I want to always remember these moments so we always take advantage of the snow when it comes...even when it is cold outside!

Aren't we mommas often the ones to be called "fun ruiner". They crack me up, the stuff kids come up with to say.

You sure seem like a fun momma to me! :)
