I had always heard that a family rarely has two children with the exact same personalities. I knew that Ashton and Landry would be as different as night and day...and I was prepared. That is the 100% total truth-our girls are totally different and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Landry...our spunky, youngest daughter is....well... there are so many words to describe her and in this case I will let you decide which ones to use. Last night we put Landry to bed the same way we always do. She is on this kick lately where she is scared all of a sudden and doesn't want her bedroom door closed at bedtime. (She has slept with her door closed since the first day she slept in her crib so she doesn't know any different.) We decided it was not a battle we needed to fight and no big deal as long as she was going to sleep and sleeping. Well, then she decided she didn't want to be in her bed and would scream and throw a ginormous fit when we put her in. Nothing in her bedtime routine changed...nothing. We have no idea where this all came from.
Well the other night, we put her to bed as usual and she threw a bloody fit...screaming hysterically, jumping up and down in her bed...it was NOT pretty. After a few minutes, she quieted down and we thought she had gone to sleep. That was until I heard her little voice. So I went back to check on her only to find her SITTING on the floor in her doorway, I literally almost stepped on her since I wasn't expecting her to be OUT of her bed. She had ESCAPED from her crib! Great. Really awesome.
Since we weren't prepared and really didn't know what to do, we knew she would more than likely climb out again so for the night we just let her sleep on a pallet of blankets on her floor while we figured out what to do next.
A big girl bed isn't in our plans for her until after the Bink Fairy has come to visit and taken her binks away and after we moved into the the new house. Here she goes again, doing things according to HER plans and not ours.
We knew that one of those crib tent things wouldn't fit on her crib so that was out of the question. {Ashton climbed out of her crib at around 18 months old and we put one of those tents on her crib. We told her we wouldn't close it up unless she climbed out. She decided to test us so we closed it up and she freaked out...one time was all it took before Ashton learned she was to stay in her crib so we returned the crib tent.}
Landry's crib doesn't convert to a toddler bed because it converts to a twin bed...but we have to get all new bedding and a mattress and we just really want to wait until we get in the new house (or at least sell this one) before we make that change.
So we decided that maybe it would be best to try putting her mattress on the floor that way she could not sleep on the actual floor but still "learn" to sleep without the crib. She thought that was a pretty great idea and was so excited.
Like I mentioned...she was pretty excited. We shall see how this whole "modified big girl bed" thing goes. Hopefully it will get better.
**Update: We have moved her back into her crib...under the threat that if she climbs out of her bed ALL of her binks will be taken to the trash out in the driveway for the trash truck to pick up. That has worked like a charm, but I'm afraid of what happens when the Bink Fairy comes which is going to happen sooner than later. We are hoping that when we actually get her big girl bed set up we will have better luck with the transition.

oh my WORD! she is a stinker...but a VERY cute one at that ;) the last picture reads something like this..."I WON! I WON! I WON!"
I've been wondering what ended up happening with this? Reese has always slept with her door open and all of a sudden insists tht it be closed...you never know with these crazy girls of ours! Cant wait to catch up with you guys...
Ha!! Tiffany's "I WON I WON I WON" comment is sooo accurate isn't it??! Hilarious!! I swear, every time I read about this girl of yours I think it's Jagger's twin. I'm SO SO SO shocked that Jagger has never pulled this stunt. B/c everything else lines up (the sudden fit about being scared, the jumping up and down in the bed screaming, and the infamous I WON attitude!). Man, good LUCK with this .... I hope she can hold out until the new house to make it any more complicated, ha!
That bink fairy... oh how I feel for ya. You're going to have to go to TOYS R US and show her the coolest biggest things you've EVER seen, and then persuade that little girl it's WORTH IT. Mercy!!!
p.s. i wanted to PINCH that booty in those first 2 pics of the hiney in the air. I LOVE when they sleep like that!!!
i just love this kid. even though i've already heard this story...and i've even talked to lp about it...i cracked up reading it anyway! she is a complete hoot and i love each and every pic! that tush in the air and that "i won" photo...PRICELESS! gotta love that little monster!
Cute, cute pics! I'm sure we will be dishing and comparing notes about this! I may leave the binkys and crib intact until Elyse is 10! Ha!
