Our littlest girl went to the dentist for her very first time today. She was pumped to get to have her own turn with Dr. Rubin. Unfortunately, I was only able to get a few pictures in the waiting room because I was part of the process when we went back.
She did really good. It was much better than I expected. Instead of freaking her out by putting her out in the chair with all the tools, noise and stuff, we stayed in the office. The hygienist came in and had her sit in my lap facing me then we leaned her back so Landry's head was in the hygienist's lap. She counted all 20 of Landry's teeth followed by brushing and flossing. She did so awesome....she didn't shed one tear and was so cooperative!
Then, we had to wait about 10 minutes or so for Dr. Rubin to come in and check her out. Well, by then she was D-O-N-E and wasn't in the mood to have her mouth looked at again. We had her lay down the same way so he could count her teeth and he put some kind of something on her teeth. She didn't cooperate very well. I think if he would have come in first or come right after the hygienist was done, she would have done fine. It was the waiting that did her in.
He told us what we already know, that we need to get rid of the bink! She got her coin for being a good girl and he told her if when she comes back in March and she doesn't have her bink, he will give her 2 more coins. (The coins are used to put in the machines in the lobby...the machines are full of fun things like tattoos, silly bands, rings, etc.).
The lady at the checkout desk gave her a sticker and her goody bag had a new sparkly toothbrush and a cool flosser and a tattoo! She was pumped. He told us we could start using a very small amount of fluoride toothpaste so we went to Target to let her pick out her own, new, big girl toothpaste and she ended up choosing Dora.
So, our first appointment down and successful. We go back in March for visit #2!
