Ashton just ended College Week for this year making it her fourth year. She looks forward to this week just as much as I do. I love how excited she gets and how much knowledge she has about college at the age of 8..it is fantastic!
In the previous years of her participating in College Week she has always used Baylor as her college of choice. One year on her pennant she gave Daddy's college some love too, but it has pretty much been my BU! Well, this year she threw us for a loop. When the assignment came home to make a college pennant, and I asked her if she knew what college she wanted to do this year, she looked at me (and in a very "Come On Mom, don't you know" way) and said, "Bama". Okie dokie...Bama it is. I was totally okay with it, because I think she needs to branch out a bit and I am proud of her for doing that without any coaxing.
So she came up with the plan for her pennant (after doing a little research on the web with Mommy) and made it all by herself. I traced the A for her after she tried desperately and it wouldn't stay put and I outlined the A for her but other than that she did it. She was so proud of her pennant!
Her school had a week's worth of themes planned for the kids to participate in....she absolutely loves being able to dress with a theme!
Monday...Wear Your Favorite College Gear
She was so excited to order this cute blinged out Alabama Crimson Tide shirt from Justice!
Tuesday...Wear Wakeland HS Colors
Wednesday...Dress For A Bright Future
Insert a picture that I didn't take on this day...we struggled with this day's attire and we might have had a minor hair catastrophe that had to do with some super duper curly hair as a result of sleeping in foam curlers. It might have taken more time than expected to get fixed and by the time she was walking out the door, we didn't have time for a picture! And really I was beyond stressed and D-O-N-E with the battle and frankly so was she = no picture today!
Thursday...Wear Your Favorite Team Shirt
Perfect. She was able to wear one of her Baylor shirts after all!
I had to post a few extra pics from this day...
{just because I love this picture of her}
{and because I can't resist a "Sisser Picture" of my girls together when BOTH are cooperating}
{And because Landry HAD to go sit on the table and have her picture taken before she went to school just like Ashton did}
{because this one was funny to me}
Friday...Wear your Carroll spirit Shirt!
Peace.Love.Carroll. Learning in Harmony
And that's a wrap on our first "themed week" of the year. College Week was fun and she learned about setting goals and that she isn't too young to be thinking about college. It is really neat to see the all the kids participating in these special days. I love College Week and I love that it is a district wide program!
