Play Ball...Finally!

Saturday was Ashton's first softball game of the fall season. This was actually her third scheduled game, but with all the rain we've had lately this was our first. Because of the rain, she plays 3 games in 4 days...how crazy is that!

She moved up to a different divison in the league. She is now playing in 8U which is 8 and under. The rules are bit differnt and our girl was soooooo nervous! She went to bed on Friday night nervous and woke up Saturday morning with more nerves. Once she got to the field, she was fine! She has a bit of "perfectionism" in her and gets worried if she doesn't think she will do well at something.

Here is our "Diva" in her pre-game photo shoot!
Daddy got in on the pre-game photo shoot....have to get pics of Daddy the Coach and his Little Diva. You can see how "into" the picture taking Landry was. She pretty much did her own thing no matter what I tried to get her attention. She was loving being outside too much to bother with pictures. She is her own little Diva.
"Softball Ready"...this is the stance the girls on the team get into each time they are in the field and a new batter is up. Landry wanted to do her "Softball Ready" with just her and Daddy. It is pretty funny to listen to her yell "softball ready".
Walking down to the field....Our Bee-Gee and her Daddy!
Landry is in LOVE with Gwynnie. Gwynnie is three and does a good job of playing and putting up with Landry during the game. Landry kept trying to get closer and closer to Gwynnie and Gwynnie kept moving away. Then Landry tried to get in Gwynnie's lap, but she wasn't loving that. It was kind of funny. The girls cheered for their sisters and shared some snacks.{Gwynnie's sister Gracelyn plays on Ashton's team.}
Pre-game coaches meeting with the Umpire. Yep....I said Umpire. That is one of the new additions from this older division. An Umpire because we keep score...with a scorebook...and the scoreboard. This is what made Ashton nervous but the Umpire was awesome...he did so great with the girls and the rookie coaches!
Ashton played short stop and catcher. She could barely move in the catcher's gear but did great in both positions.

Coach Bobby had his same post game meeting which includes finding out if the girls followed the most important rule of softball.....HAVE FUN! He asked the girls to tell him what they liked the best and today, most of the girls said winning! They won 6-2!!!
Another new thing is these cool softball decals for their helmets. Each girl got one today and from here on out she can earn them for several different things. And last but not least, the gameball was handed out.
What a great first game for the Divas. Fun was had by everyone....most importantly Ashton!

That stance is the BEST!

One of my faves is Landry with her little back to the camera... perhaps b/c I havea little diva of my own who gives me more back shots than front!

So glad she enjoyed it... way to go Ashton!!
