Knob Renuion....Part 1

Last Thursday after we picked Ashton up from school, the Bryce Fam headed to Missouri for my 15 year high school reunion. I didn't actually graduate from there, but since I went to 3 high schools in 4 years and I moved away from Missouri just before my senior year, I like to consider this my high school. Also, that is where Bobby grew up so he knows the same people.

We were excited to show Ashton where Bobby grew up and where we met and all that good stuff. This post is primarily for documentation so it might be a little boring, so if you would like to skip, I won't be offended or even know for that matter.

We woke up Friday morning and headed out for some small town sight seeing before lunch....

This is a very, very small town. There is an Air Force Base on the edge of town so that is where most of the high school's population comes from. We knew it wouldn't take us long to tour the town. We did get to meet up with one of Bobby's oldest friends so that was fun. We got to meet his two little kiddos and see the house they are moving into.

The first stop was to 7th Street....Bobby's old house. Ashton thought it was neat to see the house where Daddy and Aunt Marie grew up. However, as we were driving through Knob she said, "I am NOT amazed!". We totally cracked up. This is her first real experience in driving through a small town with lots and lots of old houses. She is such a big city girl!

Then it was on to see the "Main Diamond". This is the field where Daddy played baseball for many many years and even coached a team after he graduated from high school. The field is now named after Mr. Miller who was our fabulous counselor at the high school for forever.

We drove down to the main gate of the base which is where I lived both times we were stationed at Whiteman. Ashton thought it was so cool to see the giant airplane sitting right next to the road. We didn't get a chance to go on base because we ran out of time, but I know it has changed a ton.
We went to the City Park where I played softball and tennis so the girls could get out and play for a bit. This park is much different than the park where Ashton plays softball, but they still had fun.

There were a few play structures Ashton hadn't seen before which made the park even more fun. This thing looks like a merry-go-round but doesn't spin....it bounces up and down sort of like a see-saw.
Our Bee-Gee

This jungle gym thing was another thing that Ashton thought was pretty cool....we don't see very many of these around where we live. And Landry....she just tried to keep up with Ashton.

After our tour and visiting with Kevin and Tony we headed back to the hotel to meet the Miners for lunch and a nap. We had big plans for the evening...
This was Homecoming so it was a big deal...the entire town shuts down for the parade and the game. We started things off with a tour of the high school. It really hasn't changed much. One of the things Ashton loved was seeing Daddy's senior picture in the hallway. She laughed her great belly laugh when she saw him with lots of long-ish curly hair and a mustache. She said, "Daddy you look fun-ny!"
Becky is my oldest BFF. We have known each other since we were 5 years old. Our dads were both in the military and we were stationed together 3 times. Twice at Knob and once in Nebraska.

After the high school tour we headed outside by the field for a little dinner. The main bank in town does this every week before each home game. They serve tacos, cookies, breads and muffins and drinks. They also handed out little orange footballs for the kids.

We let the kids stay outside of the stadium to play for as long as we could. Ashton and Grant played a little football and Landry tried to keep up with them as best she could.

Becky's mom Diann was a lifesaver this weekend. She came in for the weekend to hang with the kids while we did grown up stuff on Saturday night. Landry took right to her and hung out in her lap for a while at the game. {Landry was tired...by this time it was bedtime which is why she had her blankie and bink. But she did great at the game} We made it through halftime....Ashton likes to watch the performances and she was anxious to see the Homecoming Court.
Me and girls just before we headed back to the hotel for the night.

The girls did fantastic on Day One of the trip. They had a fun and busy day and our hotel experience was MUCH better than the last one. Landry slept in her pack-n-play like a champ! Next up....Day Two.

Looks like fun and I never knew you were an Air Force brat! Looks a lot like the teeny weeny town where I grew up:)

Well that looks like fun. I didn't know it was the reunion or I might have tried to make a trek to KN for the BIG game and to see everyone!

Would have loved to have seen your girls real-live-in-person!! :)

Good 'ol Knob Noster!

Guess I didn't realize you and Becky knew each other before Knob...missed that one! :)

What a great first day!

And your *small* town? Ashton would be even less impressed if she saw where I grew up... at least you have street signs! She would definitely NOT be amazed at mine! :)
