I must apologize in advance that we didn't get the quantity or quality of pictures that we wanted because...well...we had a non-cooperative toddler in tow! I had it all planned out, Landry had had her dinner and she would have a snack to occupy her while we pushed her around in the stroller....nope! That didn't happen! Not even for 5 minutes!
There were a billion people there and as soon as we got to Ashton's classroom, Landry decided she was d-o-n-e with the stroller already after the long walk from the car. She began screaming and if you have never heard her scream....it is extremely LOUD! Daddy got her out so we could both listen to {and other people could listen to their kiddos) Ashton tell us about her work.
Well....she refused to be held and was squirming to the point where we could barely hold her without dropping her....let me just say that she has mastered the "limp noodle" technique. So this is where the tag team began.
Now, onto Ashton's Open House!
She was so excited to show us all that she had been working on...we had heard bits and pieces of things for a few weeks, but she didn't want to "spoil" anything for us. They had been working on their Ocean unit so they had a ton of awesome projects, writing samples and research activities.
Here is a picture of her desk as we arrived in her classroom....
There were a bunch of projects for her to show us in the form of a scavenger hunt. When we saw her with her clipboard and pencil ready to take us around, Bobby and I both couldn't believe that our First Grader is only a few months away from finishing this school year and then she will be a Second Grader.
Ashton had several things displayed on the walls in the classroom and in the hallways...and she showed us every.single.piece of work!
{If you want to read a few pages of it click the pictures to see them bigger.}
Ashton....we are so proud of all that you have accomplished so far and we loved seeing all of your hard work! You have so much pride for yourself and take so much pride in what you do that is just amazing to us! We love to hear the awesome things your teachers, counselor, and principals say about you. They always tell us how good your are and what a good example you are. That makes Mommy and Daddy feel so proud! We are not surprised by the great kid you are and the wonderful things you do. Thank you for showing us around your school and for being so understanding about Landry. You really are a great Big Sister and Landry couldn't be any luckier to have you! Keep up the awesome work, attitude, and behavior! You fill our hearts with so much love and joy! This Open House was a success and we don't want to forget a second of it!

This is fantastic! What a wonderful Open House! Where does she go to school? They seem to always do really great things. I love that she typed her story. Such good practice!
It kinda cracks me up to think about Landry doing the "limp noodle." I know it probably wasn't funny last night though!
Poor thing...I was thinking about you guys that night. Reese was SO tired when we left Mygym so I'll bet Lan Lan was tired. Next time I would totally watch her for you...seriously!!

Such fun! I love how Ashton had her special Open House outfit!!! I somehow don't think I'll get to experience the "choosing a fun outfit" with Reid. :( (Although, I'm not giving up hope about having a girl, someday!)
