Baking Cookies...

Christmas Eve day was a busy one at our house. Bobby and his mom went to run a few errands and made a trip to the grocery store. So while they were out, we decided to make some cookies to leave for Santa.

Papo entertained Landry until it was time for her morning nap while Mamo-the-Great snapped pictures and Uncle Todd supervised and tested the cookie dough.

For those of you who know me, you know that I am not the greatest baker around. I will try to bake things like I am Rachel Ray or Sandra Lee...they make it look super easy. I have in the past tried to make sugar cookies from scratch thinking, it can't be that hard. Wrong! They turned out horrible! So now I use Betty Crocker's greatest invention....ever! Her cookie dough mix in a bag...they taste like they are from scratch. But if you don't follow the correct set of instructions on the package, they turn out way to sticky to roll and make shapes. We learned that with our first batch...so luckily for us Daddy and Mamo picked up another bag. Instead of wasting precious, yummy cookie dough, we ate some and added chocolate chips to make some different cookies.

Ashton LOVES to cook and bake and she is a fabulous helper!
Papo came to check on us as Ashton was reading the cookie directions

I LOVE this picture of her sweet hands cutting out a cookie!
Mamo-the-Great showed Ashton how to cut out her own cookie shape...so fun!

We spent most of the day baking. Ashton and Mamo made a peanut butter pie while everyone sat at the kitchen table watching. They acted like they were on a cooking show like Rachel Ray...it was super cute! Then Ashton and Mommy made banana pudding (Daddy and Uncle Todd's favorite) also while doing a cooking show. We also made Chex mix....mommy's favorite!
