Rah, Rah, Rah...

A few weeks ago I picked Ashton up from school and she immediately told me she had a “very important paper” in her folder that I needed to sign. She proceeded to tell me all the way home how the high school cheerleaders came to the school and told them about a cheer clinic. They asked if anyone wanted a form and Ashton raised her hand. So as soon as we walked in the door, and as she was unloading her backpack, she pulled out the paper and said “Mommy here is the very important paper. You need to read it and sign it!”

I told her I needed to talk to Daddy about it. She asked me several more times that night about it. So after Bobby and I discussed it, we decided to let her do it. You would have thought she won a shopping spree to the American Girl store or something. She was so excited!

The clinic was 3 hours at the high school and the cheerleaders taught them cheers they would have the opportunity to perform at the football game the following Friday. It was amazing to me how much she learned and retained from 3 short hours. When I went to pick her up, the girls performed for the parents. She was having so much fun. I had taken my camera to take some pictures…as I was taking a picture of Ashton and one of the cheerleaders, my camera told me my battery was dead…ugh!

Anyway, she wore her t-shirt to school with ribbons to match. We weren’t sure how she would do performing in front of the crowd…

They performed between the first and second quarter, but they wanted all the girls in one spot, so for the whole first quarter the Freshman and JV cheerleaders were doing all sorts of cheers with them. I wandered down to check on her…she was down front and center with the cheerleaders and a few other girls doing the cheers!

So when it was time to go down on the track with the varsity cheerleaders, she was grinning from ear to ear! She did her cheers and jumps in between and had so much fun! I am not surprised…as much as we watch football at home, it is no wonder she loves to cheer! Daddy was able to get some pictures…I didn’t post many because it was hard to crop out the other girls and I don’t want to put people in “Blog Land” if their parents aren’t okay with it. So here are just a few…(sorry they are out of order...it won't keep them in the order I loaded them in)

After Ashton was finished performing, we went to get a milkshake and headed home since she had a 9 am softball game and Lan-Lan P was fading. She had a blast and knew so many girls that participated!
