"Are You Ready for a Barnyard Dance"...

Last Friday (the 24th) Ashton’s school had “Family Fun Night”. Last year it was the “Sock Hop” and this year it was a “Hoedown”. The school does a great job of getting the kids excited about these events and Ashton LOVES anything where the whole family gets to go to her school AND dressing up. Last year the event was held in the spring...with it being in the fall this year, we ran into a small problem…

Here’s the problem…We have some friends (Martin, Victoria, & Baby Trip) who are die hard UT fans (You know I must REALLY like them to be friends with Longhorn fans..ha-ha-ha). They have season tickets to the UT football games and Martin had invited Bobby to go with him to the OSU/UT game. When we realized Family Fun Night was on the same night Bobby was going to be gone, this created a bit of a problem. Bobby decided he would talk to Ashton and if she wanted him to stay and go to Family Fun Night, then he would drive down by himself afterward. Well, she was not okay with him driving down by himself and she told him she wanted him to go down with Mr. Martin. I was so proud of her! So it was just us girls at Family Fun Night…we missed Daddy but had a good time anyway.

As I was planning what we would all wear to the “Hoedown”, I asked Ashton what she wanted to wear. This was her response: “I am going to wear a red shirt, my denim skirt, a cowboy hat and my boots.” I decided that since she had it all planned out…why not.

Here is our little cowgirl ready for the hoedown...she decided at the last minute to wear Daddy's bandana...how sweet is that!

The pink bandana was to show Landry was a girl...hard to tell in a white shirt and jeans and add a hoedown touch. The bandana was as big as she was!

Landry decided she was going to be a bucking bronco for the hoedown...As you can see Ashton thought this was hysterical!

Here is our "Hula Hooping Queen"...for the second year in a row she was in the hula hooping contest. She was competing with two older kids and hung in great even though she didn't win. Her teacher was very impressed with her skills! Notice the outfit of choice...and no, those aren't cowboy boots, but most of the other girls looked just like that!

Ashton, your outfit looked quite worthy of a cowgirl! Very nicely done! Landry, the pink bandana was the perfect accessory!

And that pumpkin roll looks fun! Did you get a mostly round pumpkin?

The girls are so precious! Family Fun Night looks like a great success even without Daddy... What a super cowgirl!
