Thursday...7.24

Today was the day we headed to the lake. We stayed with Mamo-the-Great (Bobby’s grandma) since her house is on the lake. We always have so much fun when we are there and we appreciate her taking us in for the weekend.

Picking Tomatoes…
When we first arrived, Mamo-the-Great had a special something to show Ashton. She had been growing her own cherry tomatoes in a pot. There were some ready to be picked and she saved them for Ashton to pick…this was a first for her and she thought it was the neatest thing! The best part was that she got to eat them after she picked and washed them. Good thing she likes tomatoes!










Playing in the Lake…
After lunch it was time to hit the lake! Bobby and his Dad went to pick up the “personal watercraft” (this is what Ashton calls the jet ski) after being serviced. While waiting for them, Ashton and her Mamo went swimming in the lake. Ashton would be completely happy jumping off the dock all day long!

After the boys returned with the jet ski, it was time to take turns riding it. Bobby wanted to take Ashton on it. She went but really didn’t want to be on it with him even though she was the driver. She went very, very slow and the ride didn’t last long.

Then it was time for Ashton to ride it with her Mamo. She was so excited…it was like we had a different kid on that “personal watercraft”. She went “fast” and I mean 20 mph and was hootin’ and hollerin’ and having a good old time. Mamo even had her making teeny tiny doughnuts…too fun!

Then she wanted to ride with Mommy. Well, I don’t take it out by myself because I am not comfortable bringing into the dock without bumping into it. So that meant Daddy had to go with us. Ashton refused to go more than about 11 mph and that wasn’t fast enough for her Daddy. So he was a trouble maker on it and she wanted to end her ride with him.

Now she wanted to drive Papo on the “personal watercraft”. She again had a blast with him. Landry took turns hanging out in everyone’s laps while we played. It won’t be long before she gets to play in the lake too!

We kept saying over and over…”wow, what a difference a year makes”. Ashton used to be afraid of the boat and “personal watercraft” only because they were loud to her. This was the first summer where she actually wanted to “drive”. We are so glad she is having fun and we LOVE to see how she changes from summer to summer. Landry will also have the same experiences and we love that these girls will have great memories of their summers in Alabama!
