Our Birthday Girl...

This past Sunday was July 6th and Ashton’s 6th birthday!

I love her birthdays and I love to look back and think about how much she has grown and changed from year to year. Here is a picture from each birthday over the last SIX years:

Here are a couple of stories she will love when she is older…

On Friday we went shopping for a cute sundress she could wear to her party. She loves dresses and we didn’t buy her any this season (not sure why but we didn’t). She and I had been shopping a few times before this with no luck. When we arrived at the mall, we had planned out the stores we would go to…I thought this would be a fairly easy task. I knew we had to be efficient since we had both Landry and Daddy with us.

We went to the gap first. She found one but wanted to look at other stores just to make sure. So we continued through the mall. All the while I am picking out several cute dresses and she isn’t liking any of them. One was a white dress with pink quarter size pink polka dots…very cute. She looks at it and says, “I don’t really like dots and stuff on my clothes”. So as we are in Dillards (the last store before going back to the Gap) after looking at several and her not liking any of them Bobby asks her what kind of dress she is looking for and what is wrong with the dresses we had looked at. She looks at him and says, “I just like plain dresses that are just one color because they are more natural.” Bobby and I look at each other and chuckle…where does she come up with this stuff?!

As we put her to bed on Saturday night we left her room and immediately hear her crying. Bobby goes in there, I am in our room with her monitor on and can hear their conversation. She is crying because she doesn’t want to turn six. She wants to stay little and if she turns six than she won’t be little any more. Oh-my-goodness could we have any more drama in our house? I knew she was tired from staying up late on the 4th which means she gets overly sensitive and dramatic. This is also partly my fault because for the last few weeks I have been commenting how I was going to have a 6 year old and a 6 month old. For some reason 6 sounds so…big! No matter how hard we tried to convince her that turning six was a good thing, she wasn’t buying it. The happy news is that once she woke up on Sunday morning and saw the house decorated for her party and presents…she was fine and decided it she really did want to turn six!

There is rarely a dull moment in our house…she keeps us on our toes! We love her to pieces and wouldn’t change her for anything.
