Music for Our Girls...

I have been working on adding music to our blog for a couple of weeks now. Here is our playlist...As I was compiling the list and typing the blurb for each one, it made me teary eyed but filled with so much joy at the same time but I guess that is what music can do for you. I plan to put all of the songs on a CD for each of the girls since they enjoy some of these songs too. You can click on the name of each song to see the lyrics.

*My Girl(The Temptations)
This is one of the songs I sing to both of “my girls” at bedtime. I started it when Ashton was a baby. I only sing the chorus and now I have changed it to “my girls”. As the words say…”what could make me feel this way, I guess you’d say its my girls!” Ashton loves that song and when she was learning to talk she would want me to sing this one over and over!

*You are My Sunshine (Elizabeth Mitchell)
This is another song that I sing to both girls at bedtime…again I started when Ashton was a baby. It always used to calm her. When I sing to Landry she looks at me with her big blue eyes, and gives me the biggest smile behind her binky or thumb. At nap time after I start singing, she snuggles her face against my chest in her blankie and goes to sleep. It makes me melt every time!

*You and Me (Lifehouse)
This song has become one of Ashton’s favorites. Last May we went to Taste of Addison with Kynda and Chris to see Daughtry and Lifehouse. She had Bobby put this on a CD for her to play in her room and dance to.

*What a Wonderful World (Lois Armstrong)
For Father’s Day 2006 (Ashton was 4) we made a photo DVD for Bobby with pictures of him and Ashton together from the time she was born. This song was on there…this world is truly wonderful especially since we have 2 precious daughters to share it with!

*Find Your Wings (Mark Harris)
This was a song Chris found to put on Bobby’s DVD…it is so appropriate. With every day that passes, Ashton is definitely spreading her wings.

*Butterfly Kisses (Bob Carlyle)
This song holds a special place in my heart and always will. At our wedding (10 years ago this month) I danced with my dad to this song. We also put this song on Bobby’s DVD. Last week Bobby was at the Stars game for work and I needed to watch the DVD again because I couldn't remember the name of one of the songs we used and I wanted to put it on our blog. So Ashton, Landry and I sat on my bed and watched it. When this song came on…Ashton burst into tears. I asked her what was wrong and she said, “Mommy the words in this song are making me cry. They are so sad…I just can’t help it.” She then proceeds to say, “Mommy look at these pictures of me and my daddy, Do you see how much I have grown and how big I am now?” (All of this while still crying and I am trying my hardest not to cry along with her). We snuggled and rocked and watched the rest of the DVD. She amazes me sometimes with how sensitive she can be. I also thought to myself…what happened to my 5 year old~ She grew up in a matter of minutes!

*I’ve Always Loved You (Third Day)
This song I got off several blogs that I read…I hear it on the radio often and the words help to put how much I love these two sweet girls we have been given. We are absolutely blessed!

*Let Them Be Little (Billy Dean)
This one I have heard on the radio and also on blogs I read. They are growing up so fast (especially Ashton after being in Kindergarten this year). It is hard for me to believe Ashton is almost finished with Kindergarten and Landry is about to start eating rice cereal….4 months has flown by!

*You Fill My Heart (Jason Walker)
My daughters fill my heart with so much love and joy and I can’t imagine my life without them!

*In My Daughter’s Eyes (Martina McBride)
I love Martina McBride and as a result Ashton loves her too. This song makes me think of my girls when I hear it. Great lyrics.

*Somewhere Over the Rainbow (Martina McBride)
I wanted this one because I love Martina Mcbride but it wasn’t available so I am using this other one instead. This has always been a favorite song mine since I was a little girl.

My Little Girl (Tim McGraw)
This song reminds me of how much Bobby and I love these two little girls more than we could ever imagine. No matter how old they get or where there life takes them, I want them to always know they are our little girls and they will always melt our hearts! We couldn’t be more proud to have Ashton and Landry for our daughters!

Oh my friend...you made me teary-eyed!!! What great song choices! And that story about Ashton and Butterfly Kisses was almost too much for me to read, even though you had already told me on the phone!

Love this post! So sweet! Got me all teary eyed as well. My dad and I danced to Butterfly Kisses as well because we used to always give eachother butterfly kisses when I was little, so it is so special. Glad it is for you too! It was one of the songs that just came on while I was reading the blog!
